Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Dean and under the lead work direction of the Water Resources Collections Archivist, the incumbent will provide support for a range of duties in Special Collections & University Archives including archival processing, stacks maintenance, digitization, reference and public service.
Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision, duties include but not limited to:
- Assist with archival processing, which includes re-housing, arranging, and describing materials according to established archival standards and best practices
- Enter collection information into spreadsheets, ArchivesSpace, and other library-based platforms
- Retrieve and shelve departmental materials
- Shelf read materials to maintain correct order and identify missing or misplaced items
- Shift and move collections to ensure adequate space for collection growth
- Digitize photographs, documents, publications, and other materials
- Process digital objects (e.g., image cropping, color adjustment, access file creation) using appropriate software applications
- Assist with answering reference questions received by the department
- Assist patrons in the reading room by answering basic questions and determining when additional staff or faculty assistance is needed
- Communicate departmental procedures and policies to patrons
- Monitor collection security in reading room
- Assist with special events as needed
- Perform other related work for Special Collections & University Archives as needed
- Other Job-Related Duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
- As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.
Required Qualifications:
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Adobe Photoshop
- Experience working with spreadsheets and/or databases
- Experience working with digital image capture and scanning equipment
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Conditions of Employment
Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
