Assist the Head Dance Director in supporting the success of the MCC Dance Team members through recruiting, instruction, and academic monitoring. Provide supervision of student-athletes during study hall, strength training, and in student athletic housing, including day-to-day housing operations. Serve as a liaison to the property manager and Athletic Director, act as an emergency point of contact, and perform additional assigned campus duties up to 20 hours per week. Receives direction from the Head Dance Director and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Collegiate dance team operations within a community college athletic program; 2. Dance techniques, performance preparation, and skill progression; 3. Student-athlete academic support and monitoring practices; 4. Recruiting strategies for high school and collegiate dance programs; 5. Institutional, conference, and college policies related to student-athletes and housing; Skills in: 6. Assisting with dance instruction, rehearsals, and performance preparation; 7. Recruiting, outreach, and communication with prospective student-athletes; 8. Supporting choreography for athletic events, community appearances, and showcases; 9. Assessing individual dancer performance and providing constructive feedback; 10. Organization, time management, and balancing multiple responsibilities; 11. Effective verbal and written communication; Ability to: 12. Supervise and support student-athletes in study hall, training, and housing environments; 13. Monitor academic progress and respond appropriately to concerns; 14. Serve as an on-call contact and respond calmly to emergency situations; 15. Work collaboratively with the Head Dance Director, Athletic Director, and housing partners; 16. Maintain professionalism, consistency, and sound judgment when working with students.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Unpleasant Exposure Minor Hazard: Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors. Occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions. Frequency or severity are limited.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Experience: Two (2) years or more organized dance experience
Special Requirement: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College's automobile insurance policy.
