Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accountant & Tax Preparer to join our growing team. This position combines accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and income tax preparation responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, excellent client service abilities, and substantial experience preparing both individual and business income tax returns.

Minimum Qualifications Required Before Applying

3+ years of income tax preparation experience (Required)
3+ years of accounting experience (Required)
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
Active PTIN or ability to obtain one before employment
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's Degree preferred)

Candidates who do not meet the minimum tax preparation experience requirement will not be considered.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Reporting

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions for multiple clients.
Review and reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, loans, and other balance sheet accounts.
Prepare and complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
Maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare financial statements, including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Reports.
Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Assist clients with accounting system setup, maintenance, and best practices.

Payroll & Compliance

Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls.
Prepare and review payroll tax filings and related compliance reports.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Assist clients with payroll audits and reporting requirements.

Tax Preparation & Advisory

Prepare and review individual, partnership, S-Corporation, Corporation, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns.
Gather, organize, and analyze financial information required for tax compliance.
Research tax issues and apply current tax laws and regulations.
Identify tax planning opportunities and assist clients with tax-saving strategies.
Provide tax and accounting guidance to small business owners.
Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices, correspondence, and examinations.
Participate in tax planning and year-end tax strategy meetings with clients.

Client Service

Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Provide timely, professional, and proactive communication.
Educate clients regarding accounting, payroll, and tax matters.
Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional client experiences.

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Assist with training and mentoring junior staff when appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired

Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
Minimum 3 years of income tax preparation experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
Active PTIN or ability to obtain one.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations.
Experience processing payroll and payroll tax filings.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Xero, ADP, Microsoft Excel, and other cloud-based accounting platforms.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client engagements simultaneously.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA, EA, CPA Candidate, or Enrolled Agent Candidate.
Public accounting, tax firm, or outsourced accounting experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Experience working with small business clients in multiple industries.
Experience with tax planning and advisory services.

Compensation

Salary Range: $55,000 – $85,000 annually, depending on experience, credentials, tax expertise, bilingual capabilities, and overall qualifications.
