Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our growing and successful Environmental Team. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience working in environmental science and planning, specifically in traffic noise analysis. Work from home options are available, but the candidate must be physically located in Missouri, Illinois or Indiana.
Requirements
· Bachelor of Science, preferably in Environmental Science, Botany/Plant Ecology, Zoology, Biology, Soil Science, or other allied natural/physical environmental resources disciplines
· Advanced degree (Masters of Science) is desirable, but not mandatory
· Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
· Completed FHWA TNM 2.5 training
· Experience leading multiple traffic noise studies, including monitoring, TNM analysis, and reports.
· Experience in preparing NEPA documents and the ability to translate those skills to prepare state-level environmental compliance documents (modeled after NEPA) - primarily for transportation sector projects (desirable, but not mandatory)
· Experience working on projects with the Indiana or Illinois Departments of Transportation is preferred
· Working knowledge of GIS software, such as ESRI ArcGIS
· Desire and ability to work outside
· Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
· The ability to physically climb into and out of ditches, bridge embankments, roadway slopes, and other obstacles for field investigations
· Ability to travel (day and overnight trips) to complete field investigations will be required - travel amounts will vary depending on workload.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with the Environmental Team Leader and Senior Environmental Science staff to lead and/or assist with the following activities:
· Leading traffic noise studies including field traffic noise monitoring, noise monitoring plans, TNM modeling, traffic data collection and analysis, barrier analysis and traffic noise study reports.
· Assisting with environmental field investigations, including but not limited to wetland and stream surveys, wetland delineations, on-site stormwater and waterway permit monitoring, tree surveys, threatened & endangered species habitat identification, stream and water quality investigations, preliminary special waste and hazardous materials data collection, historic property photo logs, and other field work, as necessary.
· Preparing other technical environmental documents for both natural and man-made environment studies, including special and hazardous materials reports and other environmental studies.
· Preparing environmental documents for Categorical Exclusions (CEs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and/or Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Section 4(f) Statements, Section 7 biological assessments, and other necessary materials and reports.
· Performing environmental impact analyses, including but not limited to stream and wetland impact analyses, botanical and forest impact analyses, threatened & endangered species impact analyses, floodplain and water quality impact analyses, and other natural resources analyses.
· Performing man-made and cultural environmental analyses, including but not limited to socioeconomic and land use analyses, cumulative impact analyses, special and hazardous materials environmental site assessments, and other man-made resources analyses.
Salary Range
· $75,000 – $90,000
· Dependent on level of experience and cost of living adjustments for where candidates reside
