Quality Engineer: Job Description
Responsible for the overall quality of manufactured products are meeting the specification and customer requirements throughout the manufacturing process. Responsible for coordination, management and direction of all quality related matters internal and external within the plant. Requires knowledge of International Quality Management Systems and their effective deployment to ensure all products meet established customer requirements. Develops and supports all Company objectives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains and supports all Company safety policies, procedures and programs, including Federal, State and Local laws and regulations including; OSHA, EPA, etc., maintains and implements all Angstrom-USA policies, procedures and work rules.
- Monitor and ensure production processes are carried out under controlled conditions as per laid down procedures
- Ensure quality parts are shipped to customer at all times
- Conduct regular meeting with production operators and quality staffs on cost of poor quality and implement corrective preventive actions
- Lead Quality and Safety process of the Organization
- To establish and achieve company objectives and departmental measurable
- Establish LPA, Internal Audit process and maintain effective implementation
- To train operators on testing inspection of products, use of gauges and consequences of non-confirming products
- To evaluate supplier quality and keep records
- Management Representative responsible for ensuring the development, implementation and maintenance of the IATF-16949 quality management system and Environment Management system ISO-14001
- Determining product and process quality improvement factors and effective implementation
- Implementing test methods to inspect and evaluate product quality at each stage of operation right from incoming to the end product
- Make sure production team follows the standard operating procedure and established inspection method per laid down procedure
- Act as a Liaison with suppliers and customers to resolve issues on timely basis
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership characteristics and provide teaching, coaching or mentoring for colleagues and/or subordinates.
- Strong project management activity. Able to plan, coordinate, direct and follow-up on multiple tasks and work well under pressure and time constraints
- Maintain quality records and documents as per company’s policy and retention period
- To take initiative on continuous improvement to improve first time quality (FTQ)
- Responsible for all weekly, monthly and year end reporting of information on plant performance to adopted business plan and as required by the Corporate Quality Manager

- Control plan
- Process Failure mode effective analysis (PFMEA)
- Risk Mitigation Analysis
- Process Flow Diagram
- Standardized Work Instruction
- Standardized Operating Procedure
- Quality Control charts - Pareto charts, Normal Probability plots, Process Capability - Cp & Cpk control charts
- APQP requirements to assure timely and successful launches for new programs
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Lean Tools - KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), 5s (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize & Sustain), Andon system, Bottleneck Analysis, Just-In-Time (JIT), SMED
- Application and analysis of testing and inspection procedures:
- Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R&R) - Variable and Attribute analysis
- ISO/IEC 17025 – Lab scope & Testing, ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Reports), Chemical Composition Analysis & Testing
- QC Tools – Histogram, Ishikawa diagram, Check sheet, Scatter Diagram, Control Charts, Stratification and Pareto charts
- Problem solving and Root Cause analysis tools - 8D, DDW (Drill Deep Wide), 5W-1H, Fish bone Diagrams
- Use of metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices:
- Revalidating the control methods with advanced metrology techniques and statistical techniques like – Gauge R&R and Capability analysis using Minitab
- Calibration of Hand Gauges and Fixtures
- CMM program using PC-DMIS /MCOSMOS
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), ASME Y14.5 : 2018
- Analysis Tools - Design of Experiment (DOE) using Factorial design, ANOVA regression analysis, Reliability Analysis
- Familiarization and application of quality cost concepts and techniques:
- Defect prevention, detection, appraisal, correction and repair
- Cost of Quality - Prevention costs, Appraisal costs
- Cost of Poor Quality - Internal failure costs, External failure costs
- Continuous Improvement Tools - PDCA, Gemba Walks, 3M's - Muri, Mura and Muda
- Quality Improvement methods - Lean/Six sigma, Bench marking, Process mapping

Qualification and Knowledge:
- Graduate of an accredited four (4) year college degree program, with strong emphasis in statistics, a technical discipline, analytical curriculum base
- Proven performer having competent background of IATF-16949 requirements. Strong knowledge of APQP, FMEA, CP, SPC, PPAP, QEM requirements are a must.
- A minimum of five (5) years Quality Assurance engineering or supervisory experience in an automotive parts manufacturing environment (Preferably Tier-1)
- Preferred certifications include: American Society for Quality (ASQ) recognized Quality Manager, Lead Internal Quality Systems Auditor and/or Quality Engineer, Six Sigma
- Previous Lean manufacturing experience and TQM background desired.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Ability to work under extreme deadlines and handling of multiple-oriented tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
