We are seeking an experienced Residential Remodeling Designer to join our growing team. This individual will manage projects from initial design through construction documentation while working closely with homeowners, estimators, and production staff to create beautiful, functional spaces.
Position Summary
The Residential Remodeling Designer is responsible for leading residential remodeling projects from concept through construction documentation. This role serves as the primary design contact for clients, guiding them through space planning, product selections, budgeting collaboration, and design decisions while ensuring projects remain aligned with client goals and company standards.
The ideal candidate is creative, organized, technically proficient, and passionate about residential remodeling. They enjoy building relationships with clients while collaborating closely with internal teams to deliver successful projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with homeowners to understand project goals, lifestyle needs, and investment expectations.
- Develop creative design concepts for kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home remodels.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and complete design documentation.
- Design cabinetry layouts and space planning solutions.
- Create SketchUp models and presentation renderings.
- Lead client design meetings and professionally present design concepts.
- Guide clients through finish, fixture, and material selections.
- Collaborate with estimating to develop project scopes and budgets.
- Coordinate closely with project managers to ensure a seamless transition into construction.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts before construction begins.
- Maintain accurate project files and construction documentation.
- Manage multiple active projects while meeting deadlines.
- Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and trade partners.
- Contribute ideas that improve department processes, standards, and workflows.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of residential remodeling, residential interior design, or design-build experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home renovations.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and remodeling practices.
- Experience with cabinetry design and residential space planning.
- Working knowledge of NKBA guidelines preferred.
- Proficiency with CAD and/or Revit.
- Experience with SketchUp and rendering software (Enscape preferred).
- Experience with 2020 Design software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and detailing.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional customer service.
- Portfolio demonstrating residential remodeling and design-build projects is required.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive annual salary of $70,000 - $90,000, based on experience and qualifications.

- This position requires daily, in-office attendance. Only candidates who currently live within the Triangle area and can commute daily will be considered. No relocation assistance is available.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment drug screening.
