Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Operating Room (OR) Nurse / Surgical Nurse and be at the forefront of patient care during surgical procedures. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing support in a fast-paced, sterile environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through precise clinical skills and compassionate care. Your expertise will contribute to a seamless surgical experience, supporting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to excellence in surgical services.

Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room by ensuring all sterile equipment, supplies, and instruments are ready and properly sterilized for each procedure.
Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgeries by passing instruments, suturing incisions, and managing sterile fields with strict aseptic technique.
Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout surgical procedures, providing immediate intervention if necessary.
Administer medications, including anesthesia agents and IV infusions, following prescribed protocols while maintaining patient safety.
Document all aspects of patient care accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, including medication administration, vital signs, and procedural details.
Support preoperative assessments and postoperative recovery processes to ensure comprehensive patient care continuity.
Maintain infection control standards rigorously to prevent contamination and promote a safe surgical environment.

Requirements

Valid nursing license with current registration to practice as an RN (Registered Nurse).
Proven OR experience with proficiency in aseptic technique and sterile processing protocols.
Familiarity with advanced surgical procedures across various specialties such as cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, or trauma medicine.
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical nursing.
Ability to perform suturing, catheterization, IV insertion, tube feeding management, and ventilator support as needed.
Critical care experience or ICU background is highly desirable for managing complex cases in high-acuity settings.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in urgent or emergent situations.
