Full Job Description

Overview

At Herban we have both a cafe serving breakfast and lunch as well as a market that offers fresh baked artisan breads, pastry, and fresh and frozen pantry items.

We are seeking skilled and passionate Sous Chef/Line Cooks, Crew members to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking or preparing food, with experience in breakfast and lunch in a fast paced fast casual setting. This role requires a commitment to food safety and quality, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting. Must have good communication skills as you will interact with customers. Good hours; no late nights. Must be willing to work on Saturday and Sundays. If you have a love for culinary arts and enjoy creating delicious food, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in the kitchen.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
Handle food items safely and efficiently, adhering to all food handling guidelines.
Utilize proper knife skills for food preparation, ensuring precision and efficiency.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, communicating needs to management.
Participate in training new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and food safety practices.

Qualifications

Proven experience is highly desirable. Pay rate will apply to cooking experience.
Strong culinary skills with a focus on meal preparation and presentation.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques.
Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
A passion for the food industry and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 – 40.0 per week
