As the Club continues its ongoing clubhouse renovation, the Community & Private Events Manager will help ensure seamless event execution while contributing operational insight, leadership, and creativity that support the future of private events and member programming. Working closely with the Director of Food & Beverage, culinary leadership, and the catering team, this individual will help shape the next chapter of hospitality at Oldfield Club while maintaining the exceptional service our members expect.
Position Summary
The Community & Private Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all banquet operations, private events, weddings, member functions, golf tournaments, and Club social events. Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, this leader provides visible, hands-on leadership while ensuring every event reflects the warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail that make Oldfield Club unique.
Success in this role requires exceptional organization, proactive communication, strong leadership, financial awareness, and an unwavering commitment to delivering memorable experiences for members and guests.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Exceptional Event Operations
- Oversee all banquet and private event operations from planning through execution and post-event follow-up.
- Review Community & Private Event Orders (BEOs) and coordinate event logistics with culinary, facilities, golf operations, and other departments.
- Conduct pre-function meetings with banquet staff to ensure flawless communication and execution.
- Ensure banquet rooms, outdoor venues, and event spaces are properly prepared according to Club standards and member expectations.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence during all events, ensuring service excellence from setup through breakdown.
- Anticipate member and guest needs while resolving concerns quickly, professionally, and with a hospitality-first mindset.
Create Exceptional Member Experiences
- Build meaningful relationships with members, guests, and event hosts.
- Deliver personalized service that exceeds expectations and creates memorable celebrations.
- Ensure every event reflects the warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality that define Oldfield Club.
- Continuously evaluate member feedback and identify opportunities to enhance banquet experiences.
- Support the Club's mission of creating meaningful moments through exceptional hospitality.
Develop and Inspire Teams
- Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and mentor banquet service staff.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
- Lead daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing training focused on service standards, banquet execution, and member engagement.
- Develop future leaders through coaching and continuous performance feedback.
- Lead by example through an energetic, hands-on leadership style.
Drive Operational Excellence
- Assist in managing community & private event labor costs, scheduling, inventory, purchasing, and operating expenses.
- Ensure community & private event equipment, linens, china, glassware, and service supplies are maintained and properly inventoried.
- Maintain compliance with health, sanitation, alcohol service, and workplace safety regulations.
- Monitor financial performance while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Ensure accurate event documentation, billing, and operational reporting.
Shape the Future of Hospitality at Oldfield Club
- Partner closely with the Director of Food & Beverage throughout the ongoing clubhouse renovation to ensure uninterrupted banquet operations and outstanding member experiences.
- Contribute ideas and operational insight regarding future banquet spaces, event programming, and service enhancements.
- Support implementation of new banquet procedures and service initiatives associated with renovated facilities.
- Serve as a positive, visible leader throughout periods of growth and change.

- Deliver consistently exceptional banquet experiences during the Club's ongoing renovation.
- Build strong relationships with members, event hosts, and fellow team members.
- Improve banquet service consistency through training, leadership, and accountability.
- Increase staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
- Strengthen collaboration between banquet, culinary, golf, and clubhouse operations.
- Help elevate Oldfield Club's reputation as one of the premier private club event destinations in the Lowcountry.
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of community, private events, banquet, or food & beverage leadership experience in a private club, luxury hotel, resort, or upscale hospitality environment.
- Proven experience executing weddings, member events, golf tournaments, corporate meetings, and social functions.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing labor budgets, inventory, purchasing, and banquet operations.
- Knowledge of banquet event software, POS systems, Microsoft Office, and scheduling platforms.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, member-focused environment.
- Private club experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout events.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and assist with banquet setup and event operations.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
