Full Job Description

The Clinical Nurse Manager, IV Nurse will lead and support our nursing team, driving clinical excellence and high-quality, patient-centered care as Five Journeys continues to grow. This leader directly supervises clinical staff, oversees infusion and therapeutic services, and serves as a hands-on clinical resource—performing IV placements, administering infusions, and guiding patients through treatment. The ideal candidate is a licensed RN who pairs strong clinical skills with proven leadership and a passion for mentoring others.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This role is structured as roughly an even split: about 50% administrative responsibilities and 50% hands-on clinical and leadership responsibilities.

Administrative Responsibilities (Approximately 50%)

● Process prior authorizations, prescription refills, and peptide orders

● Upload labs and organize document buckets within Athena, including labeling unassigned documents and routing them to the correct provider

● Triage patient cases and phone calls

Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities (Approximately 50%)

● Directly supervise and support an RN and Medical Assistant across multiple practice sites

● Create, coordinate, and manage clinical staff schedules to ensure optimal patient coverage

● Review and approve timecards, PTO requests, and schedule adjustments

● Monitor attendance, staffing levels, and daily workflow to ensure continuity of patient care

● Conduct regular 1:1s, coaching, mentorship, and annual performance evaluations

● Address performance concerns promptly through coaching, documentation, and appropriate corrective action

● Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of clinical staff

● Foster a collaborative, accountable, patient-centered team culture

● Ensure consistent adherence to clinical policies, procedures, and standards

● Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention standards, and nursing regulations

● Collaborate with providers and leadership to improve clinical workflows, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency

● Lead quality improvement initiatives and identify process enhancements

● Manage inventory levels for medications, infusion supplies, and emergency equipment, ensuring appropriate ordering and stock management

● Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support with patient care questions and complex clinical situations

● Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning, clinical operations, and practice growth initiatives

● Independently perform IV placements, venipuncture, and specialty blood draws

● Administer IV infusions, injections, and medications per provider orders and established protocols

● Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after infusion therapy

● Respond appropriately to adverse reactions and medical emergencies

● Educate patients on infusion therapies, medications, and treatment expectations

● Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary care teams

● Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record

● Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, infection prevention, and compassionate care

● Support new clinical programs as Five Journeys expands its services, including future therapeutic offerings such as Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, ensuring safe and effective delivery of innovative treatments

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

● Active RN license in Massachusetts, in good standing

● Current BLS/ACLS certification

● Demonstrated experience with IV placement, venipuncture, and infusion therapy

● Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical setting

● Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies

● Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

● Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control standards

Preferred

● Experience in functional medicine, integrative health, or a multi-site practice

● Familiarity with Athenahealth or similar EMR systems

● Experience with IV infusion, peptide therapy, or ketamine-assisted treatment protocols

PHYSICAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This role is primarily performed in a clinical, patient-care setting. Requires prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands for clinical procedures, and the ability to lift or assist patients and move equipment up to 35 lbs. Involves regular exposure to bodily fluids, sharps, and infectious materials, requiring consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to infection-control protocols. May require occasional travel between the Newton and Boston locations as needed.
