Full Job Description

A growing organization is seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to join its Human Resources team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruiting, performance management, and HR compliance.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional who is comfortable handling sensitive employee matters, partnering with managers, and ensuring HR processes are accurate, consistent, and compliant. This position works closely with HR team members and company leadership in a fast-paced, fully in-office environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and guide payroll and benefits functions, partnering with payroll and benefits team members to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Review and approve employee pay increases, promotions, and other compensation adjustments.
Lead employee relations matters, including coaching managers on corrective actions, reviewing disciplinary documentation, and conducting or advising on terminations and exit interviews.
Serve as a point of escalation for sensitive employee concerns and workplace conflicts.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, company policies, and documentation standards.
Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruiting process, including candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer approvals.
Support onboarding processes to provide a smooth and consistent experience for new employees.
Support performance management initiatives, including annual reviews, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary procedures.
Assist with the development and refinement of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Maintain and audit employee information within the HRIS to ensure records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
Collaborate with leadership on strategic HR initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Participate in special projects and other HR initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including exposure to payroll, benefits, and employee relations.
Previous experience in a lead or supervisory HR capacity strongly preferred.
Experience within multifamily property management or a related industry preferred.
Strong working knowledge of employment laws, compensation practices, employee relations, and general HR processes.
Experience working with HRIS and payroll platforms such as ADP, HRO, or similar systems.
Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
Comfortable working in a fully in-office, fast-paced environment.
