WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
Saint-Gobain Innovation North America is seeking an experience AI Engineer II to accelerate Saint-Gobain R&D and industrial innovation by translating high-value business, scientific, and operational problems into production-ready AI and digital solutions. The role is intended for a hands-on builder who has deployed software, data, machine-learning, and/or generative-AI systems in real industrial or enterprise environments, and who can work directly with scientists, engineers, IT, cyber/security, and business stakeholders to identify the right opportunities, define success criteria, build usable solutions, and drive adoption.
The incumbent should be deeply curious about scientific and industrial workflows, but the differentiator is the ability to communicate effectively, operate in ambiguity, own end-to-end delivery, and convert prototypes into reliable, maintainable tools that create measurable value for Saint-Gobain innovation teams and businesses. The role strengthens the Data & AI team by connecting domain experts and enterprise platforms, capturing reusable deployment patterns, and feeding practical learnings back into future AI product roadmaps.
The role will:
- own end-to-end delivery of forward-deployed AI and digital solutions for R&D, industrial and business teams from discovery and workflow mapping through prototype, production deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- serve as the technical bridge between business/domain teams and central IT, data, MLOps, cybersecurity, and platform teams. Embeds with stakeholders to understand workflows and constraints; communicates tradeoffs clearly; aligns solution architecture with data governance and deployment requirements; and drives stakeholder adoption through relationship management.
- Build, integrate, test, and support production-grade AI/software components using strong engineering practices, CI/CD, observability, reliability checks, and documentation. Create reusable reference architectures, templates, and deployment playbooks so solutions can be scaled beyond one-off prototypes.
- Manage project communication, documentation, and knowledge transfer. Prepare clear written updates, technical memos, demos, roadmaps, user guides, and leadership presentations that explain value, limitations, risks, adoption status, and next steps to technical and non-technical audiences.
Project goals are often defined at a business or workflow level and require the incumbent to refine scope, identify leverage points, select appropriate technical approaches, and adjust plans based on data availability, security constraints, adoption barriers, ROI, and platform readiness.
