Summary:
EHS and Education Coordinator’s goal is to work with leadership in establishing and maintaining the environmental health and safety of all employees working at BPV. Will reduce work related injuries and environmental risk by evaluating and continuously improving the program and will lead risk reduction initiatives for the facility. In addition to this, the EHS and Education Coordinator will be responsible for continuous improvement, training, and projects as well as leading the education program for BPV. This position is also responsible for ensuring that our policies and procedures related to EHS \are reviewed and updated, as well as new policies and procedures are developed as required. This is a hands-on role requiring a resourceful individual who is willing and able to perform light facility and equipment-related tasks, such as repairing machine guarding, applying floor marking tape, and assisting other departments as needed.
Essential Functions:

· Coordinates and leads the weekly Safety meeting, presents weekly Safety KPI, and works with team on corrective actions identified during management meeting.
· Coordinates and implements the application of safety rules, policies, and initiatives that help to create a safe workplace throughout all areas of the manufacturing facility. Maintains OSHA logs, EHS records, TRIR, and reporting for internal and external use.
· Coordinates plant-level environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives (SWPPP-Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, air emissions, and maintaining permits) both directly and in coordination with internal and external resources.
· Coordinates site activities with regulatory agencies to verify compliance, resolve situations, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.
· Escalates/reports any potential violations and implements corrections as needed.
· Conducts daily safety and environmental inspections inside production facility and its exterior; has the skills, knowledge, and ability to take immediate corrective action if required.
· Leads investigations of all workplace accidents and environmental incidents through root cause analysis and recommends policies, procedures, and/or other actions to correct problems and prevent future occurrences.
· Participates in production and process OEE improvements.
· Participates in identifying, researching, recommending, and executing Capital Projects related to environment, health, or safety.
· Assist with managing, organizing and presenting information during internal or 3rd party audits.
· Create, revise, and present policies, procedures, and SOPs to the BPV team.
· Educate both new and current employees on safety practices at BPV.
Required Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma / GED required
· Bachelor or Associates degree preferred
· 3+ years related experience in Manufacturing Leadership, Safety, Environmental Health or relevant field
· Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish)
Required Skills:
- Proven competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- Computer skills, data analysis, reporting tools, and other applicable applications
- Proven ability to modify and organize controlled documents
- Ability to articulate clearly and train staff at all levels related to Safety Policies and Procedures
- Ability to communicate across departments quickly and effectively as needed
- Working knowledge and understanding of applicable EHS regulations ensuring facility compliance with government agencies (i.e. OSHA/MIOSHA, EPA, etc.) and safety regulatory compliance requirements
- Working knowledge of manufacturing environment safety (i.e. industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machinery guards, interlock systems, industrial vehicle training, PPE, etc.)
- Experience in implementing comprehensive safety, environmental, and sustainability projects
- Ability to investigate and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to carry tasks/projects through to completion while meeting established deadlines with limited oversight
- Ability to perform audits, write & submit reports, organize and lead meetings

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates within a manufacturing/warehouse/shipping facility with a controlled climate in the office area, temperatures vary in the warehouse area. This position requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, standard days/hours are Monday – Thursday 7 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 7 am – 11 am, with the flexibility of some early hours, evening hours, and weekend work when needed per BPV operational demands.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities
Travel:
No overnight or long-distance travel expected for this position
Local travel required for errands
