Job Title: Construction Estimator – Masonry

Reports To: Pre‑Construction Manager / Owner
Position Overview
As the first point of contact for incoming bid opportunities, you will turn concepts into clear scopes, accurate take‑offs, and rock‑solid budgets that protect margins and uphold our reputation for Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence. You’ll manage each estimate from initial builder inquiry through project start, setting our field teams up for scheduling certainty and profitable execution.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Intake & Feasibility
• Receive pricing requests/invitations by phone or email
• Assess schedule compatibility and resource availability (man‑hours, crew loading)
• Conduct site visits as needed to confirm access, logistics, and constructability
Quantity Take‑Off & Pricing
• Perform detailed masonry quantity take‑offs (block, brick, stone, accessories)
• Request and track supplier quotes for materials, equipment, and freight
• Develop preliminary budgets and formal estimates—including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and risk contingencies
Proposal & Client Follow‑Up
• Submit clear, complete proposals with scope narratives, exclusions, and alternates
• Answer RFI’s promptly; revise pricing for pre‑construction change orders
• Follow up with builders to clarify scope and secure award
Award to Pre‑Construction Handoff
• Receive and review purchase orders; sign and return to builder
• Order and build physical or mock‑up samples; prepare submittals
• Order long‑lead materials and schedule deliveries
• Input awarded projects into the master schedule—blocking out dates, crews, and projected man‑hours
Continuous Improvement
• Track estimate vs. actual cost data for ongoing accuracy improvements
• Collaborate with field leadership to refine production rates and means‑and‑methods
Qualifications
- 3–5 + years estimating masonry or structural concrete (commercial, industrial, or institutional)
- Proficiency with take‑off and estimating software (On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Excel); MS Project or similar scheduling tool a plus
- Working knowledge of current masonry codes, specs, and best practices
- Strong math, plan‑reading, and critical‑thinking skills
- Clear, professional communicator—able to build trust with GCs, suppliers, and internal teams
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform/site‑walk jobsites

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
