Lakeshore Cutting Solutions is seeking an organized and proactive Manufacturing Project Manager / Buyer. This position combines customer project management with purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and outside services.
The successful candidate will coordinate with customers, suppliers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing personnel to keep projects moving and ensure requirements are clearly communicated.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate quotes based on customer requirements
- Review customer purchase orders, drawings, specifications, tolerances, and project requirements.
- Coordinate projects involving laser cutting, waterjet cutting, forming, machining, welding, fabrication, and outside processing.
- Serve as a primary contact between customers, suppliers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
- Track project requirements, material needs, outside services, documentation, customer changes, and potential delays.
- Identify technical, quality, material, or delivery concerns and work with the appropriate departments to resolve them.
- Request and evaluate supplier quotations for materials, equipment, supplies, and outside services.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, freight, quantities, and purchasing terms.
- Create, issue, and track purchase orders and supplier acknowledgments.
- Follow up on open orders and resolve late deliveries, shortages, quality concerns, incorrect shipments, and pricing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate project, purchasing, supplier, drawing, and customer documentation.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
- Provide project updates and reports to customers and management as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing/job shop project management, purchasing, engineering, estimating
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings, blueprints, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Experience purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, or outside manufacturing services.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer skills.
- Strong negotiation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced custom-manufacturing environment.
- Able to work independently, take ownership of assignments, and follow them through to completion.
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to recognize and communicate concerns early.
Preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing job shop.
- Experience with laser cutting, waterjet cutting, forming, machining, welding, or fabrication.
- AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience.
- Experience with ERP, purchasing, or project-management software.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Approximately 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
- Occasional overtime or Saturday work may be required
