The Florida Room an upscale restaurant in Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate chef to build upon an already successful culinary program featuring award-winning, chef-inspired cuisine while bringing fresh ideas, creativity, and strong leadership to the kitchen.

What You'll Do

Lead all day-to-day culinary operations.
Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing kitchen team.
Maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, presentation, and sanitation.
Partner with ownership and leadership on seasonal menus, specials, and culinary innovation.
Manage food, labor, and operating costs while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction.
Oversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food handling regulations.
Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative kitchen culture.

Food Preparation & Execution:

Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and kitchen guidelines.
Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation meet established standards.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and slicers.
Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through.
Ability to be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
Ability to work well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for guests' food orders.
Ability to maintain good coordination.
Ability to transport cases of received goods to the workstation; pots and pans of food from storage/prep areas to the serving line.
Ability to work a 10 hour shift in hot, noisy and sometimes close conditions.
Ability to work with all products and ingredients involved.
Ability to use all senses to ensure quality standards are met.
Ability to differentiate dates on food labeling.
Ability to operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job functions.
Ability to comprehend and follow recipes.
Ability to expand and condense recipes.
Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.

Sanitation & Safety:

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen workstations and equipment.
Follow all food safety procedures, including proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
Comply with all health and safety regulations, including allergen and cross-contamination protocols.

Team Collaboration:

Experince writing kichen team schedules
Communicate clearly with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
Assist with prep work, stocking, and closing duties as needed.
Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Inventory & Supplies:

Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and ensure no shortages or needs.
Properly handle and store food items to prevent spoilage and waste.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.

Strength: Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.

Dexterity: Proficient with kitchen utensils, knives, and equipment.

Schedule Flexibility: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of Head Chef or Executive Sous Chef experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant.
Large Group Excecution
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Passion for chef-driven cuisine using high-quality, seasonal ingredients.
Proven experience with menu development and cost control.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining exceptional standards.
Culinary degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
Passion for culinary excellence and teamwork.
Ability to lead team in high pressure environment
Available to work weekends and holidays.
