Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kachemak Bay Animal Hospital — Homer, Alaska
Kachemak Bay Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our small, independently owned hospital in Homer, Alaska.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, works well as part of a team, and wants to use their technical skills rather than being limited to basic assisting. This position will work closely with our veterinarians in appointments, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, treatment, and patient care.
We are also working toward building a stronger training and development program for our veterinary assistants, so there is an opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys teaching and helping others improve.
Responsibilities
- Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Surgical and dental assistance
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Digital radiography
- In-house laboratory testing and sample preparation
- Patient restraint and Fear Free handling
- Medication administration
- Hospitalized patient care
- Treatment and procedure preparation
- Accurate medical documentation
- Client education and discharge instructions
- Help train and develop veterinary assistants
- Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies
- Work closely with the DVM and support team to keep patient flow organized
What we're looking for
- Current veterinary technician license/credential
- Strong technical and patient-care skills
- Comfortable with anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory work, and radiography
- Reliable and able to follow through on responsibilities
- Good communication and teamwork
- Comfortable working in a small hospital where everyone helps when needed
- Interest in teaching or mentoring less-experienced assistants is a plus

Kachemak Bay Animal Hospital is an independently owned small-animal practice in Homer, Alaska. We want our technicians to be able to use their skills, continue learning, and have a meaningful role in patient care.
Our hospital includes digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment, dental equipment, surgical monitoring, and a broad general-practice caseload.
Homer offers ocean and mountain views, fishing, boating, hiking, skiing, wildlife, and access to some of Alaska's most beautiful outdoor areas.
Compensation & relocation
Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and credentials.
Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Full-time preferred.
