ABA STEPS, LLC is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and growth-oriented Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) to join our clinical team.
The BCaBA works under the ongoing supervision of a qualified Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and assists with the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of individualized behavior-analytic services.

The BCaBA serves as an important bridge between the supervising BCBA and direct-care team by supporting clinical programming, staff training and supervision, treatment fidelity, data-based decision making, and high-quality service delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Services
- Provide behavior-analytic services within the BCaBA scope of practice and under ongoing BCBA supervision.
- Assist with behavioral assessments and clinical information gathering.
- Assist the supervising BCBA with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Practical Functional Assessments- Skill-Based Treatment (PFA- SBT), and other assessment and treatment procedures when appropriately trained and assigned.
- Assist with the development and modification of individualized treatment plans and behavior-support procedures.
- Implement behavior-analytic treatment directly when clinically appropriate.
- Review, graph, summarize, and analyze participant data.
- Identify relevant trends in treatment data and communicate findings to the supervising BCBA.
- Support data-based clinical decision making.
- Assist with treatment-plan updates, progress summaries, reassessments, and other clinical documentation.
- Monitor treatment integrity and implementation of clinical protocols.
- Promote generalization and maintenance of meaningful skills across people, settings, and activities.
- Support functional communication, independence, flexibility, self-advocacy, and other socially meaningful outcomes within the participant's authorized treatment plan.
RBT Support, Training, and Supervision
When appropriately qualified and authorized:
- Provide supervision and clinical support to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
- Model treatment procedures and evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Conduct competency-based training.
- Observe implementation of treatment protocols and provide timely, behavior-specific feedback.
- Support RBT clinical problem solving within the BCaBA's scope of competence and assigned responsibilities.
- Monitor treatment fidelity and data-collection accuracy.
- Collaborate with the supervising BCBA regarding RBT performance, training needs, and clinical concerns.
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing clinical training of behavior technicians.
- Promote ethical, professional, compassionate, and participant-centered service delivery.
Caregiver and Team Collaboration
- Participate in caregiver training and coaching under the direction of the supervising BCBA.
- Model strategies that caregivers can reasonably implement within natural routines.
- Support caregiver understanding of behavior-analytic treatment recommendations.
- Collaborate professionally with BCBAs, RBTs, caregivers, educators, related-service professionals, and other authorized members of the participant's treatment team.
- Participate in clinical meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary collaboration as assigned.
Documentation and Compliance
- Complete clinical documentation accurately and within required timelines.
- Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Follow applicable payer, regulatory, licensing, BACB, and ABA STEPS requirements.
- Maintain professional boundaries and comply with applicable ethical standards.
- Participate in required supervision, training, competency evaluation, and professional-development activities.
- Immediately communicate clinical, ethical, safety, or compliance concerns to the supervising BCBA or Clinical Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, active Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Bachelor's degree and completion of applicable BACB certification requirements.
- Ability and willingness to practice under ongoing supervision of a qualified BCBA.
- Commitment to maintaining BACB certification, continuing education, ongoing supervision, and applicable ethical requirements.
- Experience providing ABA services to children, adolescents, and/or young adults.
- Demonstrated competency implementing behavior-analytic assessment and intervention procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze clinical data and communicate relevant findings.
- Ability to receive and incorporate clinical feedback.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with caregivers and multidisciplinary team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising, training, or providing clinical support to RBTs.
- Experience with functional assessment and function-based intervention.
- Experience with Practical Functional Assessment- Skill-Based Treatment (PFA- SBT) or interest in developing competency in these approaches.
- Experience with assent-based, compassionate, and participant-centered ABA practices.
- Experience providing caregiver training.
- BCBA trainee or professional interested in continued advancement within behavior analysis.
- Interest in long-term professional growth and leadership opportunities within ABA STEPS.
Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon meeting and maintaining applicable requirements, which may include:
- Active BACB certification and good standing.
- Ongoing supervision by an appropriately qualified BCBA.
- Compliance with applicable BACB continuing-education and certification-maintenance requirements.
- Successful completion of required background and credentialing checks.
- Valid driver's license.

PFA-SBT Professional Development & Certification Program
ABA STEPS offers an internal Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) professional development and certification pathway for team members who demonstrate interest, foundational clinical skills, professional readiness, and the ability to safely and consistently implement behavior-analytic procedures.
BCaBAs who are selected to participate may receive structured training and mentorship in areas such as:
- Understanding the principles and clinical rationale underlying PFA and SBT.
- Developing competency with Universal Protocols and strategies designed to establish safety, trust, cooperation, and positive therapeutic relationships.
- Recognizing and responding appropriately to assent, withdrawal of assent, precursors, and indicators of distress.
- Understanding synthesized reinforcement contingencies and individualized functional assessment processes.
- Supporting the implementation of Practical Functional Assessments under appropriate BCBA supervision.
- Developing competency in Skill-Based Treatment procedures.
- Teaching and strengthening functional communication, toleration, cooperation, and contextually appropriate behavior.
- Using data to evaluate treatment progress and inform clinical decision making.
- Promoting generalization of acquired skills across people, environments, and meaningful everyday situations.
- Receiving direct observation, modeling, coaching, performance feedback, and competency-based evaluation from qualified clinical leaders.
Participation in the program is not automatic based on position or tenure. Team members are considered based on demonstrated interest, clinical judgment, foundational ABA competencies, treatment integrity, responsiveness to feedback, professionalism, ethical practice, reliability, and readiness for advanced clinical training.
Team members progressing through the program are expected to demonstrate competency through direct observation and performance-based evaluation rather than training attendance alone. Opportunities to participate in increasingly advanced components of PFA-SBT are provided as competency is demonstrated and when clinically appropriate opportunities are available.
Successful completion of ABA STEPS' internal training and competency requirements may lead to recognition through the company's PFA-SBT staff certification program, as applicable to the employee's position and demonstrated competencies. Internal certification represents completion of ABA STEPS' established training and competency requirements and does not replace, represent, or imply certification or endorsement by the BACB or another external credentialing organization.
Additional Professional Growth
Depending on performance, clinical competence, credentials, organizational needs, and available opportunities, BCaBAs may also have opportunities to:
- Develop advanced assessment and treatment competencies.
- Take on increased RBT training, mentorship, and supervision responsibilities when qualified.
- Participate in clinical case reviews and treatment-development activities.
- Assist with staff competency development and clinical training.
- Develop leadership and case-management skills.
- Participate in specialized ABA STEPS training initiatives.
- Pursue qualifying supervised fieldwork toward BCBA certification when available and governed by an appropriate supervision agreement.
