Full Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides safe, effective and efficient drug distribution, monitors patient's response to drug therapy and provides reliable and relevant drug information to patients and health care professionals.
Involved in business aspects to maintain a profitable company.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, walking on uneven ground, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting usual weight of 3 pounds, lifting occasional weight up to 25 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of 40 pounds of force; reaching above, at and below shoulder level; frequent gripping of an object.
Continuous: repetitive arm/hand motion.
Occasional: sitting, periods.
Operates office/pharmaceutical equipment such as typewriter, computer, telephone, dispensers, laminar flow hoods, TPN mixing machines, etc.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
Subjected to noise/vibration from air conditioner, printers, time stamp machines, etc.
Exposure to chemo drugs and antibiotics and chemicals; dust, odors and cleaning/ disinfectant fumes.
Work environment is fast paced, congested and may be stressful due to workload.
Interacts with patients, nurses, physicians and the general public.
Works on multiple tasks at the same time.
May be exposed to communicable diseases.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

Current Hawaii State license as a Pharmacist.
Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
Assignment to Physicians Office Building:

o Completion of an immunization training course accredited by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
o Current certification in CPR or BLS.

B. EXPERIENCE:
Experience to demonstrate the following:

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and supporting/facilitating positive team interaction/development.
Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to act calmly and tactfully in stressful or confrontational situations.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Assignment to Physicians Office Building:

One (1) year experience in local retail pharmacy preferred.

Assignment to Rehab Hospital of the Pacific:

Experience as a hospital pharmacist preferred.
Experience in unit dose and IV services preferred.
