Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR)
, Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division, is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as a
Regional Park Manager I! This position oversees operations at the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park, a vibrant hub for sports and outdoor activities featuring eight baseball fields, four softball fields, five multi-purpose fields, twenty tennis courts, an aquatic center, an archery range, and Hans L'Orange Neighborhood Park.
What You Will Do:-
Supervise maintenance and repairs of fields, courts, landscaping, archery range, and facilities.

Oversee park operations, including administering of rules and regulations, scheduling and permits, promotional activities and administration of concession contracts.

Prepare an annual operating budget request and administer the budget as allotted.

Recruit, interview and select employees.

Develop a training program for new employees as well as in-service training to keep all employees abreast of developments in grounds and facilities maintenance, turf management, and other horticultural and arboricultural practices.
Special Working Conditions:-
Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and may involve working weekends, nights, and holidays.

Will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, hospitality management, horticulture, agronomy, botany, landscape architecture, or related field.
Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
For example:
1. Four (4) years of professional work experience, in any occupation, may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.
2. Four (4) years of general work experience (does not need to be professional level) as a Groundskeeping Supervisor, Park Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, Park Grounds Maintenance Superintendent, or similar area may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.
The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, proper documentation, e.g., a foreign credential evaluation (FCE), must be provided. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three (3) years of experience in managing the overall operation of a major park (e.g., district park), group of parks (e.g., recreation complex), or similar facility, which demonstrated knowledge of facility usage and coordination; and/or administrative experience in managing the maintenance and beautification of a major park or similar facility, which demonstrated technical competence in soil and turf management and landscaping.
Such experience must have demonstrated:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of business management, public relations, and supervision.

Knowledge of principles, practices, techniques and methods of turf management.

Knowledge of budget preparation, basic accounting and record-keeping.

Ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of subordinate staff.

Ability to develop recreational policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Ability to plan and establish a grounds beautification and maintenance program.

Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff, representatives of other departments, community groups, and the general public.

Ability to prepare cost estimates and prepare and justify budgets.

Ability to issue clear and concise oral and written instructions.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license. The current vacancy requires a valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
