Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will manage the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions. Your expertise will support our commitment to financial integrity, compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and efficient financial operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing organization that values precision, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Duties

Process and verify all accounts payable transactions, including invoice entry, approval workflows, and vendor payments using financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday.
Manage accounts receivable functions by generating invoices, monitoring aging reports, and following up on overdue payments through systems like Paychex or ADP.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledger entries regularly to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Prepare journal entries related to payments, collections, accruals, and other accounting activities in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while handling data entry tasks with precision using Excel data analysis tools such as VLOOKUP functions and formulas.
Assist with month-end closing activities by preparing account reconciliations for the general ledger and supporting documentation for audits.
Support automation initiatives for accounts payable processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors through systems like Kronos or UltiPro.
Collaborate with the finance team on compliance requirements related to GAAP standards and internal controls to uphold financial integrity across all transactions.

Qualifications

Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.
Hands-on experience working with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with accounts payable automation tools and accounts receivable management systems like Paychex or ADP is highly desirable.
Knowledge of SOX compliance standards coupled with experience in public accounting or governmental accounting is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel formulas including VLOOKUP functions and spreadsheet analysis for data-driven decision making.
Excellent attention to detail in data entry tasks such as invoice processing, debits & credits management, and 10 key typing accuracy.
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of accuracy under tight deadlines.
Effective communication skills paired with a solid understanding of payroll management, benefits administration, and general ledger accounting.
