Position Overview
Gigerich Electrical, Inc is seeking an experienced and dependable Electrical Superintendent to oversee commercial electrical construction projects. This position is responsible for coordinating field operations, supervising electrical crews, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and promoting a safe and productive jobsite.
The ideal candidate will have solid commercial electrical experience, strong leadership abilities, and the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, employees, and other trades.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise daily electrical construction activities on commercial projects.
- Lead, direct, and coordinate electricians, apprentices, subcontractors, and temporary labor.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, and scope requirements.
- Plan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment needed to complete each phase of the project.
- Assign daily work and clearly communicate production expectations to field employees.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure milestones and completion dates are met.
- Coordinate electrical work with the general contractor and other trades.
- Attend jobsite meetings and provide accurate updates regarding progress, manpower, materials, and potential delays.
- Identify conflicts, design issues, and field conditions before they affect the project schedule.
- Maintain high standards for workmanship, productivity, and professionalism.
- Ensure installations comply with the National Electrical Code, project specifications, local codes, and company standards.
- Schedule inspections and work with electrical inspectors and other authorities having jurisdiction.
- Enforce company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Complete daily reports, time records, material requests, change documentation, and other required paperwork.
- Assist with testing, startup, punch-list completion, and final project closeout.
- Train, mentor, and develop electricians and apprentices.
- Protect company tools, equipment, materials, and other resources.
- Communicate immediately with project management regarding safety concerns, delays, additional work, or changes in scope.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of commercial electrical construction experience preferred.
- Previous experience as an electrical foreman, lead electrician, or assistant superintendent.
- Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, branch circuits, feeders, switchgear, transformers, generators, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage pathways.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, schedules, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code and standard electrical installation practices.
- Ability to plan work, manage manpower, track productivity, and meet project deadlines.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with general contractors, owners, inspectors, project managers, and other trades.
- Basic computer, email, and electronic reporting skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in active commercial construction environments.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work from lifts or elevated platforms.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift construction materials and equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
