Ultrasound Technician - PRN
Location: Fall River Health Services – Hot Springs, SD
Schedule: Monday - Friday 40 hours a week.
Fall River Health Services is seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technologist (UT) to provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging at Fall River Health Services (FRHS) facilities. Core modalities include Vascular, Abdomen/Small Parts, and OB/Gyn procedures. The technologist operates advanced equipment, including the Philips iU22 and Newman Medical Arterial Cuff Machine, in strict accordance with approved techniques and standards established by radiology governing and professional bodies. Their primary objective is to obtain optimum diagnostic images that accurately aid in the identification, evaluation, and tracking of disease progression.
What You'll Do
- Diagnostic Imaging & Patient Care
o Image Production: Produce both emergent and routine diagnostic images using designated ultrasound machinery.
o Patient Positioning: Adjust and guide patient positioning to acquire the highest quality images based on individual anatomical structures.
o Protocol Adherence: Perform and complete all diagnostic examinations in strict accordance with established Radiologist protocols.
o Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, empathy, and professional support to all patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
- Systems, Documentation & Scheduling
o Digital Processing: Process and transfer acquired images into the digital PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for Radiologist review.
o EMR Documentation: Document clinical data, manage patient charges, and process medical records using EPIC and Meditech electronic systems.
o Multimodality Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments across multiple imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound.
- Quality & Operational Control
o Safety & Quality Control: Participate actively in quality control processes regarding imaging equipment, radiation safety protocols, and general patient safety.
o Efficiency Management: Ensure all scheduled and emergency exams are completed in a timely, accurate, and correct manner.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Demonstrates skills and behaviors indicative of an adequate working knowledge of and clinical proficiency in ultrasound procedures, principles of ultrasound physics, and human anatomy and physiology.
- Physical Demands: Capacity to stand for long intervals and safely assist in transferring or positioning immobile hospital patients.
- Interpersonal Skill: Strong clinical empathy, precise active listening, and calm demeanor during high-stress emergency scenarios.
- Communication: Exceptional empathy, verbal communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Problem Solving: Strong ability to handle shipping delays, supply chain disruptions, and tight deadlines.

Education/Experience/Licensure:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Experience: 2 years’ experience working as a registered Ultrasound Technologist preferred.
- Certifications: Active registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(S). RVT or RDMS required.

The average compensation for this position is $31.25 - $47.15 per hour depending on your qualifications and experience.
