Family Solutions is seeking experienced Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) for a PRN Regional Floater role within our Correct Care Solutions division. This position is designed to provide short-notice behavioral health coverage for contracted correctional facilities throughout Louisiana.
This role is ideal for clinicians seeking flexible, supplemental work while maintaining a high degree of autonomy and professional independence. Clinicians in this role serve as operational support providers during staffing shortages, provider absences, leave periods, or other service disruptions.

About the Role
This position focuses on delivering essential mental health care to justice-involved individuals, including safety assessments, mental health screenings, and therapeutic support. The role is well-suited for clinicians who value variety, independence, and professional collaboration within a structured system of care.
Responsibilities
- LPC/LCSW develops and implements patient treatment consistent with the objectives of contract deliverables and consistent with all policies and standards that are pertinent to the delivery of behavioral health care to Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees. This is accomplished by performing comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, establishing realistic and measurable short and long term goals, and initiating appropriate clinical treatment based upon evaluation findings. Training on all pertinent policies and standards that govern the provision of behavioral health care to Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees is provided as part of this position.
- The LPC/LCSW implements appropriate treatment techniques to maximize patient function, promote healing and adjustment of disability.
- Formulates differential diagnosis of mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse.
- Provides suicide risk assessments for detainees identified as potentially at risk for suicide, and makes determinations regarding the level of care needed for those detainees based on the findings of the suicide risk assessment.
- Consults with Correctional Care Coordinator, psychiatric treatment provider, and other providers regarding complex patients and regarding prescription medications prescribed by providers.
- Actively collaborates with psychiatric prescribers in all cases to maximize treatment efficacy.
- Adapts conventional therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients in a correctional setting. Adaptations are based on the patients’ physical and cognitive capabilities, strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
- Provide non-scheduled urgent assessment of patients as identified by correctional/treatment staff.
- Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and make appropriate referrals to available emergency or psychiatric treatment resources.
- Maintain an understanding of how behavioral health priorities are administered under state and federal guidelines for correctional populations.
- Provides patient care in a safe and therapeutic environment by maintaining the privacy of the patients.
- Provides education to patients from admission to discharge by providing individualized instructions to maximize function.
- On date of session, documents patients’ progress, interim assessments, and discharge summaries with updated goals. Updates, modifies, and prioritizes goals based on evaluations and re-evaluation of findings. Documents services provided through daily SOAP notes and through flow chart in documentation system. Initial evaluations to be completed within 48 hours of assessment and re-evaluations to be completed within 24 hours of assessment, unless otherwise agreed upon with Correctional Care Coordinator.
- Independently plans and arranges for patient transfers through communication with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates competency and knowledge of current standards of practice within the profession.
- Recognizes limitations and makes appropriate referrals to other resources (inpatient care, hospitalization, etc) as needed.
- Participates in staff orientation/training.
- Prepare monthly productivity reports.
- Prepares reports for quality improvement.
- Maintain quality care through participation in peer review, policy development and quality improvement programs.
- Maintains professional liability insurance coverage in an amount sufficient to qualify for coverage according to state malpractice guidelines (Louisiana Malpractice Act and/or Texas equivalent)
- Engages in continuous quality improvement activities to evaluate compliance to contract deliverables, treatment standards, Family Solutions policies and procedures, and identifies strategies to improve patient care.
- Maintains patient confidentiality by keeping information private as described by HIPAA/HiTECH/CFR 42 Part 2 standards.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all Family Solutions services and capabilities offered to the community.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of clinical and counseling services, including all necessary billing information. Ensure accurate and consistent use of encounter forms for all client contracts with behavioral health providers to ensure accurate billing of third party resources. Completes and submits timesheets weekly.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops and serving on special committees.
- Can effectively and consistently navigate different workplace technologies, including electronic health records, agency email/messaging systems, teleconference software, etc.
- Must be willing to travel between Family Solutions clinical sites.

Position Details
- Status: Part-time, PRN (as needed)
- Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor
- Location: On-site at facilities in Louisiana is generally preferred
- Travel: Day travel required; no overnight lodging anticipated
- Assignments could range from 1 day to 1 month, or longer, depending on need
- Equipment: Company-provided laptop and secure access setup
- Training: Paid orientation and system training provided
- Licensure: Must hold a current LPC or LCSW license; willingness to obtain additional state licenses required (company covers associated costs)
Compensation Structure
This role includes:
· Competitive hourly compensation for activated assignments
· Additional $5 hourly differential for assignments located more than 30 miles from clinician's residence
Qualifications
- Active LPC or LCSW license in at least one of the listed states
- Minimum two years of post-licensure experience preferred
- Proficient in electronic health records and remote telehealth systems
- Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating in multidisciplinary environments
Preferred:
- Strong clinical judgment and familiarity with correctional or crisis settings a plus
· Crisis intervention experience
· Experience working with severe and persistent mental illness populations
· Experience functioning in autonomous clinical settings
· Familiarity with electronic health records and telehealth systems
Availability Expectations
· Must maintain agreed-upon monthly availability
· Must respond to deployment requests within designated response timeframes
· Reliability and responsiveness are essential functions of the role
· Preference given to clinicians with weekday daytime flexibility
