Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our growing cardiology and electrophysiology practice. This role is an excellent opportunity for premedical and pre-nursing students seeking meaningful hands-on clinical experience before applying to medical school, nursing school, physician assistant programs, or other healthcare professional training programs.

Working alongside experienced cardiologists, electrophysiologists, nurses, and clinical staff, you will gain direct patient care experience, develop clinical skills, and learn the day-to-day operations of a specialty cardiovascular practice. We are committed to mentoring motivated individuals who are passionate about medicine and patient care.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties

Greet and prepare patients for clinic visits by obtaining and documenting vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Perform ECGs, apply cardiac monitors (Holter and event monitors), and assist with cardiac device checks after appropriate training.
Prepare, clean, and stock examination rooms to ensure efficient patient flow.
Educate patients regarding medications, diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow-up care.
Accurately document patient encounters and clinical information in the electronic medical record (eCW).
Assist with maintaining a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.

Administrative Duties

Schedule office appointments, diagnostic studies, procedures, and follow-up visits.
Verify insurance coverage, obtain prior authorizations, and coordinate referrals.
Manage patient phone calls, portal messages, and prescription refill requests.
Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Support daily clinic operations and collaborate with the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Current premedical, pre-nursing, or other pre-health professional student strongly encouraged to apply.
Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program is preferred but not required for qualified candidates with relevant healthcare experience.
Current CPR/BLS certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Previous experience in cardiology or another medical specialty is preferred but not required—we are willing to train motivated individuals.
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Compassionate, professional demeanor with a genuine interest in patient care.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (eCW preferred) and basic computer applications.
