Derryberry's Mechanical Contractors is a family-owned and operated mechanical contracting and service company specializing in commercial HVAC, plumbing, and site utilities in the Greater South East Texas area. Derryberry's has been one of Houston's most trusted mechanical contractors since 1983. The team at Derryberry's is known for their remarkable ability to install, service, and maintain a wide range of commercial building systems, ensuring quality services at a competitive rate.

Position Overview

As an HVAC Startup Technician, you will be required to trim out, start and commission all equipment used for heating, ventilation and air conditioning of commercial building applications. This includes services and maintenance to central cooling and heating water plants, including chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchanges; VRF systems; packaged and unitary systems; ventilation systems and variable frequency drives.

Responsibilities

Work with project teams to trim out accessories, start up and commission heating, ventilation, and cooling units for both commercial and industrial applications.
Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to project team.
Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection form. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis.
Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
Document all start up related details: make, model, serial number, power, test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
Diagnose diverse technical issues, obtain any replacement parts and calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations.
Assist TAB and Commissioning Contractors in resolving any deficiencies that may be found during balancing or commissioning phase of projects.
Respond to warranty requests, resolve issue and provide written documentation to communicate solutions through the chain and to the owner.
Work as part of our team to ensure projects are completed on time.
Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.

Requirements

Minimum of three to five years experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues.
Good analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
Strong desire to help solve problems in a team environment.
Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
Ability to read, write and verbally communicate with customers and team well.
Ability to work a 40 hour schedule and overtime when needed.
Must be dependable and show up on time consistently.

Lift up to 50 pounds; be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders; work from heights, work in small crawl spaces.
Observe all company procedures and safety rules
Maintain accurate time records and daily reports
