Full Job Description

Facility Operator

Reports to: Operations Manager

Job purpose

Beatrice Mayes Institute is seeking a Facility Operator to complete the following duties and responsibilities:

Assist with setting up and breaking down equipment for events and meetings.
Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
Assist with deliveries and distribute supplies throughout the facility.
Ensure assigned maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner.
Assist in ensuring the safety of the facility and report hazards.
Operate facility vehicles to complete transport assignments.
Assist with the student dismissal process and ensuring student safety.
Assists in receiving food deliveries and waste management.
Provide assistance to students, staff and visitors as needed.
Attend meetings, in-service training and workshops as assigned.
Performs other related work as assigned.

Qualifications

Other attributes needed and desired for this role are:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in facilities and kitchen maintenance or a related field.
Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and safe driving record.
Must be able to pass a Background Check working for a school.
Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
Good communication and Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Ability to work independently, a self-starter and as a part of a team.

Knowledge of sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance is a plus.

Working conditions

Indoor/Outdoor environment. Subject to changing temperatures (cold/hot) based on the assigned duties.

Physical requirements

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment and may include outdoor tasks.
Ability to carry and/or lift-up to 50 pounds.
The position may require standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and bending for extended periods.
The role may include early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday
9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
1-hour lunch break
Occasional weekends and after hours
