Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and personable Employment Specialist to play a foundational role in launching and strengthening employment services within the Houston program. In this role, you will develop and implement employment support strategies for clients, working closely with program leadership, clients, and employment partners to create meaningful career pathways. You will contribute to the development and refinement of job placement processes, support the growth of employer partnerships, and help establish effective long-term client success. This is an opportunity to lead a critical program component and make a meaningful impact on client outcomes and the Houston community.

Location: Houston, Texas – Initially remote, transitioning to a hybrid schedule in South Central Houston

Reports to: Houston Sr Program Manager

Salary: $59,000-$64,000

Schedule: M-F, full-time

Status: Exempt

Travel: Employee is expected to travel within the Houston, TX area for events and partnership-related activities

Responsibilities:

Client Support & Engagement

Engage with employment partners to understand and address challenges clients may face during the employment process.
Support clients throughout the onboarding and employment process, providing coaching and feedback on job performance.
Help clients develop and implement career plans, setting both short-term and long-term goals for education and work.

Workforce Training & Development

Deliver workforce training and job readiness workshops to clients, ensuring content is relevant and effective.
Conduct onsite training sessions, including lessons utilizing Nomi Network's workforce curriculum.
Adapt and refine workforce training curriculum as needed, incorporating feedback and best practices in collaboration with program leadership.

Employment Services Management

Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of employment services for program participants, including job search support, resume development, interview preparation, and job retention skills.
Coach clients based on employer feedback to help improve performance as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with employers to create job opportunities for clients.
Maintain accurate documentation, including case notes, attendance records, and monthly reports to ensure program compliance.

Collaboration & Program Coordination

Work closely with the Sr. Corporate Partnerships Manager to set up internships, job opportunities, and events.
Collaborate with the Case Manager to write and implement job support plans.
Facilitate group-based workshops focused on job search strategies, workplace skills, and professional development, collaborating with the Case Manager to deliver a coordinated series of in-person and virtual sessions aligned with client goals.
Conduct and evaluate training sessions to ensure effectiveness and relevance.
Attend all relevant meetings, including supervision, staff meetings, case conference sessions, and workshops, to ensure alignment with program goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment services, workforce development, or a related field.
Strong understanding of job market trends, resume building, and interview coaching.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Experience working with high-risk or underresourced populations.
Reliable access to a working vehicle for work-related purposes.
Reliable access to wifi for work-related purposes given the role will initially be remote.

Physical Requirements

The position functions in a normal office environment that requires the ability to successfully interface with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and telephones
Sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally climbing stairs are typical activities in this role
Talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word) and hearing (perceiving the nature of sounds) are required
Clarity of vision (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print) is required
The ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs is required
This job will require the ability to drive a vehicle for work-related purposes, so the ability to drive a car is required. This includes sitting, gripping, foot action, neck movements, elbow movements, reaching, and wrist movements.
