Full Job Description

Description:

The Part-Time Communication/Dispatch Officer is primarily responsible to receive and handle 911 calls, other emergency calls, monitor alarms, dispatch first responders, and make other notifications and reports as required. Other duties include, but not limited to clerical duties related to a dispatch center, such as: filing recall lists, operation of computers, completing and printing desk journals, maintaining alarm records, and completing records logs as assigned.

Follow all company personnel and safety policies, and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner
Answering public and police calls for assistance in emergency and non-emergency situations on the telephone and radio
This position is located in a restricted area and is responsible for security of assigned work area and equipment
Relay information to/from police or security supervisors, take messages, and obtain clear and accurate information & relay to all pertinent personnel
Acts as the primary alarm and surveillance point for criminal information, natural disasters, and all other operations involving coordination with civil authorities and other federal agencies throughout the state and federal government
Work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Supervision

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Be at least 21 years of age
Ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone, often in stressful situations
Knowledge of radio dispatch regulations, procedures, protocols, and/or equipment
Knowledge of fire and burglar alarm systems reporting
Successfully complete all training and obtain all required permits, licenses, certifications and security/medical clearances for the worksite
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a law enforcement dispatcher/communications officer

Computer Skills

Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, (such as: MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
Possess or be able to obtain and maintain NACI security clearance.
Completed or be able to complete JSCPSC Orientation Course.
Completed or be able to complete Emergency Dispatch Training and Certification Program
Speak, read, write, and understand the English language, apply written rules, detailed orders, instructions and training material
Have no record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture
Must be able to meet drug testing and alcohol – free workforce requirements to include random drug and/or alcohol testing
