Full Job Description

Overview

Wendler, PLLC is a local Houston, Texas based accounting firm emphasizing tax consulting and compliance services. Our firm also provides forensic accounting services, litigation support and expert witness services in the areas of business litigation, estate and trust disputes, and tax controversy. We are a small team of experienced professionals with sophisticated clients with high expectations. Our mission is to exceed the expectations of our clients by providing the highest level of dedication and delivery of value far exceeding the fees we charge for our services. The pending retirement of a key contributor offers an opportunity to join our outstanding team.

We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our team to serve our clients’ needs in the areas of tax compliance and consulting and to serve as a key team member of the firm’s growing forensic accounting practice.

This position requires a licensed Certified Public Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Federal and State tax compliance and consulting. Prior experience in the forensic accounting area is a plus but not required. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and dedicated to helping clients with tax compliance needs and to deliver planning and consulting services to maximize the value of our services. The opportunity to leverage your tax and accounting skills into the forensic accounting practice is a unique opportunity to enhance your value as a professional. You will work directly with clients and team members in all areas of our practice.

Duties

Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate income tax returns.
Provide tax planning and consulting for a diverse client base in multiple industries.
Support team members providing guidance and review of their work.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.
Participate in forensic accounting matters to develop case files and testimony to be offered in litigation matters and other disputes.
Support the firm’s business development and client service goals.

Skills

Licensed CPA (Texas).
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting and taxation.
Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience in Federal and State Income Taxation.
Proficiency with ProSystemsfx tax software or similar tax return packages.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Service minded approach to meet the demands of the firm’s client base

Salary & Benefits

Salary: $125,000+ with discretionary quarterly bonuses. Base salary will be commensurate with experience
