Project Manager – Utility Scale Solar

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $140,000 – $180,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead the successful execution of utility-scale solar energy projects from development through commissioning. Based in Houston, Texas, this hybrid role will oversee all phases of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contractual requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in renewable energy construction, EPC project management, stakeholder coordination, and utility-scale solar project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Manage utility-scale solar projects throughout the full project lifecycle, including development support, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, contractors, consultants, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk management plans.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, construction, environmental, permitting, and operations personnel.
Monitor project progress and proactively identify and mitigate schedule, budget, quality, and operational risks.
Oversee contract administration, change orders, vendor performance, and subcontractor management.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Manage project financial performance, including budget tracking, cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
Support project commissioning, turnover, and final project documentation.
Travel periodically to project sites as required to support project execution and stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
5+ years of project management experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, power generation, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $50M+.
Strong understanding of EPC project delivery methodologies.
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and vendor relationships.
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
Experience working with utility interconnection processes and transmission systems.
Knowledge of solar PV design, construction, commissioning, and operational best practices.
Experience with energy storage (BESS) projects is a plus.
Familiarity with Texas energy markets and utility-scale renewable development.
