Transportation Foreman : A Transportation Coordinator (Foreman) at Born Industrial oversees workforce transport during major industrial turnaround and capital projects. They direct on-site traffic flow, manage bus and shuttle fleets, and ensure compliance with lead incident prevention, coach field supervision, review JSAs and permits, conduct audits, conduct vehicle inspections, manage investigations, track trends, and communicate customer safety requirements. A Transportation Coordinator (Foreman) manages complex site logistics and personnel transit. They oversee large-scale, DOT-compliant busing fleets, optimize routing to reduce parking needs, crowding, traffic, & productivity at optimal levels.
Delegation Standard: Under Full Turnaround Site Coverage, each role has a defined lane. The Project Manager owns overall performance, the Superintendent owns field execution, the General Foreman coordinates multiple crews, the Foreman leads the crew, Safety owns the safety program, the Timekeeper owns labor documentation, and the Equipment Tracker owns rental equipment control. This structure reduces confusion and keeps the turnaround organized, safe, and cost controlled.
Foreman Performance Standard : Crew starts on time, understands the task, works safely, avoids idle time, and communicates issues before they become delays.
JOB SUMMARY & MISSION:
Reporting to the Project Manager & General Foreman, the Transportation Foreman is responsible for all aspects of the workforce transportation & fleet management for the turnaround. The following are key responsibilities:
Fleet and Route Management: Oversee fleets of DOT-compliant buses and professional drivers, designing optimized routes to ensure workers arrive on time while reducing safety risks and site parking congestion.
Field Driver Oversight: Act as the primary point of contact for field bus drivers. Ensure all driver certifications (such as CDL with 'P' endorsements) are current and that daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections are completed
Incident & Compliance Management: Immediately address vehicle maintenance issues, traffic citations, or accidents. Guarantee that all vehicle operations follow local, state, and federal laws.
Asset and Material Tracking: Direct the flow of onsite vehicles, equipment, and materials. Coordinate vendor deliveries and prevent logistical conflicts so turnaround or routine maintenance projects run efficiently.
Safety Enforcement: Enforce all company and client safety standards, including seatbelt usage, speed limits, and prohibiting cell phone use while vehicles are in motion.
Multi-Craft Capabilities: Bus Drivers may be required to engage in Water (Hydration)/Trash (Housekeeping) duties during idle time and foreman will need to manage crew accordingly.
Split Shift/12 Hour Shuttle Shift Rotation Schedule: Bus Drivers will be separated into 2 categories of 10 hour split shifts and 12 hour shuttle driving. Foreman will need to create a rotating schedule where all drivers get an equal amount of 12 hour shifts.
Project Information :
Project will consist of 40-70 manpower crews.
Transportation Foreman will work with the Project Manager, General Foreman, & Safety Manager to manage the following:
Type of Project: Full Turnaround Model
High manpower, split shifts, heavy customer reporting, or major equipment volume. Full leadership structure with clear lanes for PM, Superintendent, General Foremen, Foremen, Safety, Timekeeping, and Equipment.
Pre-Mobilization Turnaround Set Up (Staging Rental Equipment, BRM Staging Support, Lunch Tent Support, Parking Lot Set Up, Hooch Set-Up, Pre-Planning Process, Safety Plan) & work with Logistics Coordinator contact on site.
Turnaround Shutdown (Safety Services/Confined Space Technicians, Equipment & Material Services/ General Labors, Rehydration Stations, Trash Pickup, Equipment Mobilization, Equipment Operators/Forklift, Fuel Distribution/Drivers, Equipment Tracking, Mechanical Warehouse Support)
Post Turnaround Demobilization (Owner-focused demobilization services on resources, materials, & assets, controlling cost & ensuring safe startup and facility operational readiness. Removing Rental Equipment, BRM Removal, Lunch Tent Removal, Parking Lot Removal, & Site Clean Up.)
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises a crew of 8-10 CDL Bus Drivers. Also, provides indirect supervision for up to 300 personnel on an assigned project if needed. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Travel Requirements: The Transportation Foreman will be required to travel to conduct the Company’s business at various customer locations throughout North America.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED, and a minimum of five (5) years CDL & Transportation experience in the petrochemical or refining industry, with 1 – 2 years Foreman experience preferred, managing services on turnarounds. Prior experience managing workforce transportation is a plus.

- Computer: - Strong PC skills with particular emphasis on Microsoft Office (MSWord, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Born360). Ability to quickly learn additional software programs as required by job responsibilities.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to high, precarious locations such as towers (up to 300ft.). They may be required to work in extreme cold and extreme heat and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Their work may involve risks to hazards such as: working around moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may exceed 85dB and will require the use of hearing protection.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand or walk. They will need to use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and to reach with hands and arms. They will need to use their senses to see, feel, hear, taste and smell. The employee may be required to climb ladders, scaffolds and stairs to excessive heights of up to 300ft., and/or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to carry/transport/move equipment up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

- Current driver’s license from state of residence and proof of vehicle insurance with state liability minimum.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good driving record to drive company vehicle and access client facilities.
- Safety-oriented attitude with a true commitment to personal safety, as well as the safety of others is a must.
- Prior experience conducting safety training and/or presentations.
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety compliance regulations and basic safety concepts.
- Proven ability to implement and maintain behavioral-based safety techniques, ensuring onsite safety performance.
