Job Description

Intermodal Tank Transport (ITT) is a global provider of door-to-door transportation services for bulk-liquid chemicals and food-grade products. With a fleet of more than 30,000 tank containers, ITT works to provide the best logistics options for our customers.

We are looking for a 'Procurement Buyer - Americas' - an energetic, independent self-starter to run with the regional Procurement Strategy (Ocean/Road/Rail/Depot/Clean). You should bring a detail-oriented and organized approach to serve the needs of our internal and external stakeholders.

*Position is not remote. Office based in Houston, TX. Monday – Friday.

Pay range negotiable based on experience.

What you will be doing

The 'Procurement Buyer' Americas will be responsible for securing 'transport services' necessary to support ITT’s customers at the most competitive cost. They will work closely with the Commercial and Operations team to understand what is needed to support existing and future business opportunities. Developing and maintaining supplier relationships are critical in this role to ensure ITT has the best supplier network for the Americas region - adopt & develop ITT's SRM principles across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Execute and own the regional strategy; Regularly assess the market to ensure competitive costs and allocations for the region
Source and manage contract and spot rates for all ship lines ex region
Negotiate each contract period to reduce overall expenditure
Resolve rate discrepancies/disputes
Produce monthly reports
Create and maintain procurement frameworks on contract negotiations, periodic business reviews, and cross-departmental interactions with suppliers
Understand and actively research macro and micro trends that could impact the ocean strategy, service levels, and cost base in the region
Develop and maintain SRM methodology
Inform and share knowledge with the business on market trends and cost developments

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 5-10 years of on the job experience; Minimum of 5 years freight procurement preferred
Experience executing procurement strategies & processes
Familiarity with the tank container industry is preferred but not mandatory
Contract/rate negotiation required
Experience with tendering and freight platforms
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Must have international experience
Ability to be diplomatic and maintain a neutral approach in contentious situations
Must be able to determine and define priorities
