Full Job Description

Medical Billing & Billing Coordinator

Amada Senior Care is a non-medical in-home care company providing quality care and support to seniors throughout Greater Houston Area, Katy, Sugar Land, Clear Lake, and East Texas.

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Billing Coordinator to join our Pearland office. This position will be responsible for medical billing, Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI) claims, private billing, VA claim submission, and related accounts receivable follow-up.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Pearland, TX

Responsibilities

Submit and manage medical claims through Availity and other payer portals/clearinghouses.
Enter and maintain accurate patient/client demographics, insurance information, charges, and billing information.
Review claims for accuracy prior to submission.
Apply working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes when processing claims.
Submit, track, and follow up on Veterans Affairs (VA) HHA/HM claims based on provided authorizations.
Maintain a weekly VA billing tracker documenting weeks billed, amounts submitted, and payment/reconciliation status by client.
Process and submit Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI) claims, including required supporting documentation.
Coordinate with LTCI claims departments regarding claim status, missing information, payments, and outstanding claims.
Process private-pay billing and maintain accurate billing records.
Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims.
Research and resolve claim rejections and denials and submit corrected claims or appeals when appropriate.
Post and reconcile payments and identify discrepancies between billed and paid amounts.
Maintain accurate documentation of claims, payments, denials, and follow-up activity.
Communicate professionally with insurance companies, payer representatives, clients, and internal staff.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience.
Experience with the complete medical billing process, including claim submission, payment posting, denials, and AR follow-up.
Hands-on experience with Availity or similar electronic claims platforms.
Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
Experience with LTCI billing and claims
Experience with VA billing/HHA/HM claims
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and computerized billing systems.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple billing responsibilities.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Medical Billing or Coding certification required

The ideal candidate has strong medical billing experience, understands insurance claims and AR, and is comfortable working independently with VA, LTCI, and private-pay billing.
