The Galleria Hair Salon is looking for a licensed cosmetologist who wants to become a strong, confident haircutting stylist.
This is not just a shampoo assistant position.
You will assist our salon team while receiving hands-on training in women’s haircuts, men’s haircuts, fades, blowouts, styling, consultations, and client care. The goal is to help you develop the skills, speed, confidence, and clientele needed to move into a producing stylist position.
We already have an established assistant, but our salon is growing and our team needs more support. Instead of hiring someone only to complete basic assistant duties, we want to invest in someone who wants to learn, improve, and build a real career behind the chair.
This position is best for someone who has completed cosmetology school, has some salon experience, and knows that they still need additional training before becoming a fully independent stylist.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include:
- Shampooing and conditioning clients
- Preparing clients for haircut and styling services
- Assisting stylists during appointments
- Performing blow-dries and basic styling
- Helping with women’s and men’s haircut services
- Learning clipper work, fades, scissor work, sectioning, elevation, and shape
- Practicing on mannequins and approved models
- Preparing stations before appointments
- Cleaning and resetting stations after appointments
- Sweeping hair and maintaining clean work areas
- Washing, folding, and organizing towels and capes
- Mixing and preparing treatments when directed
- Restocking products and salon supplies
- Keeping the shampoo area clean and organized
- Helping maintain a clean, professional salon
- Supporting the front desk when needed
- Greeting clients and helping them feel comfortable
- Learning how to recommend products
- Learning how to rebook clients
- Building relationships with clients
- Gradually accepting approved services as your skills improve
- Participating in salon education, team meetings, and team-building activities
Everyone on our team helps where help is needed. No task is considered beneath anyone.
Training and Career Development
We are looking for someone who wants more than a temporary salon job.
You will receive:
- Paid hands-on training
- One-on-one coaching from experienced stylists
- Haircutting education
- Blow-dry and finishing education
- Men’s haircut and fade training
- Women’s haircut training
- Consultation training
- Retail recommendation training
- Client-building guidance
- Opportunities to practice on models

- Technical skill
- Consistency

- Client safety
- Professionalism
- Attendance
- Coachability
- Ability to follow instructions
- Teamwork
- Client feedback
- Ability to complete services independently
We will provide education and opportunities. You must be willing to practice, accept feedback, and put in the effort.

Our Culture
The Galleria Hair Salon is a boutique, team-based salon.
We are not a booth-rental salon where everyone works separately. Our clients may see different members of the team, and we work together to create a consistent experience.
Our salon culture is social, professional, relaxed, and collaborative.
We enjoy working together, but we also take the business seriously.
Our team participates in:
- Hands-on education
- Team meetings
- Monthly salon classes
- Model days
- Content and photo opportunities
- Team-building activities
- Holiday gatherings
- Occasional social events
- Community and salon events
Participation matters.
We want someone who enjoys being part of a team and is willing to build relationships with coworkers. You do not have to be the loudest person in the room, but you must communicate, participate, and contribute.
We are not looking for someone who wants to come in, avoid the team, complete the minimum amount of work, and immediately leave.
We want someone who is interested in becoming part of the salon.
Professional Appearance
Our dress style is best described as elevated casual.
We do not require formal clothing, but everyone is expected to arrive looking clean, polished, current, and ready to work with clients.
Examples include:
- Clean and well-maintained clothing
- Fashion-forward casual outfits
- Professional jeans, trousers, dresses, skirts, or salon-appropriate sets
- Clean shoes
- Groomed hair
- Clean personal presentation
- Clothing that allows you to perform salon services safely
The following are not appropriate:
- Pajamas
- House shoes or slippers
- Dirty or heavily damaged clothing
- Clothing with offensive language or images
- Clothing that exposes undergarments
- Clothing that makes it difficult or unsafe to perform services
- Arriving with an unclean or noticeably unprepared appearance
You are not expected to wear expensive or designer clothing.
You are expected to look intentional and professional.
Our team works in the beauty industry. Personal presentation is part of creating trust with clients.
Attendance and Reliability
Salon appointments are scheduled in advance. When someone is late or absent, clients and coworkers are affected immediately.
We need someone who:
- Arrives before the scheduled start time
- Is ready to work when the shift begins
- Plans transportation in advance
- Communicates clearly
- Gives proper notice when requesting time off
- Does not regularly call out
- Does not frequently request schedule changes
- Can maintain a consistent work schedule
- Understands that Saturdays are important salon workdays
Emergencies happen. However, frequent transportation problems, oversleeping, last-minute schedule conflicts, and repeated call-outs will not work in this position.
Please apply only if you are ready to maintain a dependable work schedule.
Schedule Expectations
Our salon is open Tuesday through Saturday.
Applicants should be available during a combination of:
- Tuesdays
- Wednesdays
- Thursdays
- Fridays
- Saturdays
- Some evenings
- Required education days
- Required team meetings
- Occasional salon or team events
Saturday availability is required.
This is not a Monday-through-Friday office schedule. Our busiest periods are often evenings and Saturdays.
Exact hours will be discussed during the interview and may change as the position develops.
Performance Expectations
During your first several months, we will evaluate:
- Attendance
- Punctuality
- Attitude
- Work ethic

- Speed
- Technical improvement
- Communication
- Client interaction
- Ability to follow directions
- Willingness to practice
- Team participation
- Ability to stay productive

We do not expect perfection.
We do expect visible improvement.
Someone who consistently practices, accepts coaching, and shows initiative will receive more education and opportunities.
Someone who avoids practice, resists feedback, or repeatedly needs to be reminded of basic duties will not progress into a stylist position.
