Full Job Description

The Lead Tool Technician is responsible for implementing daily activities of overall operations of the Tool Center Facility, under the direction and support of the Facilities Operations Manager. This position will also direct the daily work of the Tool Technicians.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for implementing daily activities and overall operations of the Tool Center Facility as directed by the Facilities Operations Manager.
Responsible for assigning the daily work of the Tool Technicians and daily toolbox safety meetings as directed by the Facilities Operations Manager.
Responsible for cleanliness of the Tool Center Facility.
Oversee shipping and receiving as directed including loading and unloading large commercial trucks utilizing 5,000 and 35,000 lb. forklift.
Maintain the Tool Life Program.
Oversees tool inventory/tool inspections/repair/replacements.
Ensure all equipment needing calibration/certification are up to date.
Responsible for facility compliance calendar at the direction of the Facilities Operations Manager.
Support as needed with preventative maintenance of facility equipment including HVAC and office equipment. Perform minor repairs such as leaky faucets and damaged ceiling tiles, replace bulbs, and other miscellaneous repairs.
Maintain campus health and safety measures including first aid kits, fire extinguisher inspections, and AED inspections.

Education and/or Experience:

The required minimum education and/or experience needed to successfully perform this job includes the following (increased education/experience may substitute for educational/experience requirements):

Required Education

High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Required Experience

Five (5) years experience with tooling.
Prefer experience in the industrial construction or maintenance business, especially union craft labor.

Other Requirements:

Mechanically inclined.
Basic computer skills.
Good driving record.
Must be physically able to perform the physical minimum tasks of the position. These include but are not limited to: (1) standing and/or walking for extended periods of time; (2) climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; (3) lifting/picking-up/moving objects up to 50 pounds; (4) repetitive or extended bending, stooping, sitting; (5) crawling, maneuvering, or accessing tight spaces; (6) walking on surfaces that may be unpaved, uneven, or at elevated heights; (7) performing duties outside in heat/cold/inclement weather and around craft actively working; and (8) pass a drug and alcohol screen in accordance with APM’s alcohol and substance abuse program.
Must obtain a Forklift Certification to drive forklift.
