Position: Permit Expediter

Position Overview: As a Permit Expediter at Identity Architects, you will be responsible for facilitating the permitting process for construction and renovation projects. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and local government agencies to ensure all necessary permits are obtained promptly.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a Permit Expediter, preferably in an architecture firm or construction-related industry. Successful in obtaining permits for various projects, from residential to commercial, is highly valued.
- Proven experience as a Permit Expediter or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permit requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in using computer software for permit tracking and documentation.
- A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, urban planning, or a related field is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, zoning ordinances, environmental regulations, and permit requirements is essential. This includes understanding different permit types.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills are required to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple permits concurrently without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities:
New Project Admin
- Request New Project Number
- Coordinate with project lead to fill out New Project Number Request (Re: Smartsheet)
- Proposal Creation o Coordinate with department lead for project scope
- Email scope and site plan / survey etc. to potential consultants (copy IDA Proposals email account)
- Submit to minimum of 2 consultants per scope (as determined by Project Lead)
- Deadline is 3-4 days
- Follow-up on consultant proposals 1 day before due date
- Print and record consultant fees on “Project Authorization Form”
- Project Jurisdiction research
- Once a proposal is signed, research permitting jurisdiction and get necessary paperwork and file in project and notify project lead.
Permitting Admin
- Building Permit Submissions
- Research Building Codes and Zoning Ordinances
- Project Jurisdiction Research- Permitting Process
- Coordinate with project lead to get permit documents prior to permit date
- Weekly Permit Status Updates
- Assist with Utilities Applications
- Assist with ARC applications/submission
- Pay Plan Review and Application Fees
- Handles Permit Extension/Reactivation Request
- Manage Identity Permitting Credit Card and Receipts
- Manage Permitting Portals
- Request Address Assignments / Address Verifications as necessary
- Assist Contractor with Jurisdiction registration
- TDLR Project Registration
- Submit for ADA Plan Review within a week of Permit Submittal
- Liaison between Jurisdiction contacts and Job Captains
- Download permit deliverables and approved plans where applicable
- Permit/Plans pick-up where applicable
Construction Admin
- RFI/ Submittals o Log submittals/ RFIs on log
- Send submittal to consultants and assign a due date. Typically, 1 week.
- If minor architectural item, review to verify if it matches drawings and discuss with project lead.
- Log returned submittals from consultant or team and return to contractor.
- Submit for TDLR review within 2 weeks of permit stamp date.
- Plan review
- Pay Application.
