Job Summary
The Welder is responsible for producing high-quality welded wire mesh products and fabricated assemblies in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and production schedules. This position performs welding, setup, material preparation, inspection, and equipment maintenance while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The Welder supports production efficiency, continuous improvement initiatives, and on-time customer delivery requirements.
Job Functions
The essential functions of the Welder include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Set up and operate machine and/or equipment.
· Read work orders and drawings/specifications to ensure accurate dimensions and product requirements.
· Use measuring tools, including calipers, tape measures, micrometers, and gauges.
· Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
· Perform basic machine adjustments and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
· Load, unload, and handle raw materials, wire, and finished products safely.
· Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment as authorized.
· Support secondary operations such as shearing, slitting, forming, welding, cutting, and packaging of wire mesh products.
· Thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, maintaining focus, and quality results in ever challenging circumstances.
· Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Maintain and support continuous improvement, 5S, and housekeeping standards.
· Contribute to overall department success by performing additional duties and assisting team members as required.
· Foster positive employee relations by adhering to company policies, participating in training, and demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Specific Job Requirements
Welding & Fabrication
· Set up and operate welding equipment, including resistance welders, mesh welding machines, MIG welders, spot welders, and related fabrication equipment.
· Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
· Position, align, clamp, and secure wire and metal components for welding.
· Produce welded wire mesh panels, frames, guards, baskets, partitions, racks, and other fabricated wire products.
· Verify wire spacing, dimensions, squareness, and overall product quality before and during production.
· Perform manual welding and minor fabrication repairs as required.
· Grind, clean, and finish welded assemblies to customer specifications.
Machine Setup & Operation
· Set up welding machines according to job requirements and wire specifications.
· Load and prepare raw materials, wire coils, rods, and components.
· Enter and verify production data, machine settings, and job parameters.
· Make machine adjustments to maintain weld quality and production efficiency.
· Monitor equipment performance and identify operational issues.
Quality Control
· Inspect welded products for strength, appearance, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
· Use measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, squares, gauges, and micrometers.
· Document inspection results and report defects or non-conforming products.
· Work closely with Quality personnel to resolve product issues.
General Requirements
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum of six months’ previous experience working with wire mesh.
· Must be able to perform basic math calculations and accurately use measuring tools.
· Must be reliable, good attendance, and a strong work ethic.
· Forklift, overhead crane, or material handling equipment experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
· Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and production documents.
· Ability to learn and operate various manufacturing equipment with basic mechanical aptitude.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions without supervision.
· Ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers, supervisors, outside contractors and vendors.
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 lbs. frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Must be able to work safely in a manufacturing environment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
· Must be able to read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and production documents.

Training Requirements:
· All orientation training, position training, product knowledge, basic computer operations, preventive maintenance procedures, measuring devices, product identification, safety training, quality training, and any other training deemed necessary.
Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (First Shift)
Physical Requirements:
· Seeing: Ability to visually inspect materials, read work orders, identify defects, and monitor welding arcs with proper PPE (75–100%).
· Hearing: Ability to hear instructions, communicate with team members, and recognize equipment sounds or safety alerts (75–100%).
· Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing fabrication tasks and moving between workstations (75–100%).
· Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to bend, reach, or occasionally kneel to access materials, tools, or lower work surfaces (25–50%).
· Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Ability to lift, pull, or push metal parts, tools, and materials up to 50 lbs. with assistance as needed (25–50%).
· Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Ability to use hands for welding, grinding, handling tools, and performing detailed fabrication tasks (75–100%).
· Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform precise hand movements required for welding, fitting, and operating fabrication tools safely and efficiently (75–100%).
