Overview:
Help shape the future of mobile and hybrid power.
Gen-Systems is seeking an Electrical Application Engineer - BESS & Hybrid Power to join its Product & Technical Solutions team and support the application, integration, and lifecycle performance of battery energy storage systems and hybrid power solutions.
This is an opportunity to join a business operating in a rapidly evolving segment of the energy and power market, where reliability, responsiveness, and real-world performance matter. Gen-Systems publicly positions its business around temporary mobile power, mobile gas turbine generator solutions, hybrid energy applications, power for demanding field operations, and proactive monitoring and technical support. That makes this role especially attractive for engineers who want to work on practical, high-impact power solutions rather than remain limited to a narrow design-only function.
The Electrical Application Engineer - BESS & Hybrid Power serves as a key technical resource across product development, engineering, sales support, supply chain, manufacturing, commissioning, field service, and aftersales support. This individual will work closely with internal teams, customers, EPC contractors, utilities, suppliers, and external partners to help ensure that BESS and hybrid power solutions are properly applied, technically compliant, commercially viable, and successfully supported from concept through field execution.
Reporting into the Vice President of Research & Development, this role is embedded in the Product & Technical Solutions organization and is well suited for an engineer who can bridge technical innovation with customer and field application requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in electrical power systems along with hands-on experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid power systems, renewable energy, distributed generation, switchgear, controls, or related electrical equipment.
For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of battery storage, hybrid systems, mobile generation, product development, customer applications, and field execution in an environment where speed, technical credibility, collaboration, and problem-solving capability are highly valued.
About Gen-Systems:
Gen-Systems Power Solutions delivers scalable power solutions for operating environments where dependable electricity is critical. Publicly, the company highlights Power2Go mobile gas turbine generator solutions, hybrid configurations that combine generation and battery storage, support for electric fracturing and remote field operations, and proactive service capabilities designed around uptime and operational responsiveness. This positioning reflects a business focused not only on equipment supply, but on solving complex customer power challenges in demanding applications.
Within that environment, the Product & Technical Solutions team plays an important role in supporting technical application, product advancement, system integration, and customer success. For engineers with experience in BESS, distributed energy, controls, power systems, or field-deployed electrical equipment, this creates a compelling opportunity to contribute in a role that is both technically meaningful and highly visible across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical application engineering support for BESS and hybrid power solutions across product development, sales support, project execution, supply chain, manufacturing, commissioning, and aftersales functions
- Review customer specifications, technical bid packages, and project requirements to support compliant and commercially viable system applications
- Interpret and review electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, control architecture, and technical documentation related to battery storage and associated balance-of-plant equipment
- Support equipment selection, application review, and technical validation for key system components including battery modules, BMS, PCS/inverters, EMS/SCADA interfaces, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
- Respond to technical inquiries from customers, EPC contractors, utilities, field service personnel, and internal stakeholders regarding system design, performance, operation, troubleshooting, and installation
- Provide technical input during proposal development, including compliance reviews, equipment configuration, customer clarifications, and identification of technical risks
- Assist in troubleshooting field issues, startup concerns, commissioning support, and warranty-related investigations; participate in root cause analysis and corrective action development
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, product management, supply chain, and operations teams to improve product reliability, manufacturability, safety, and serviceability
- Review supplier technical documentation and submittals to verify component compliance and support vendor coordination when needed
- Assist in developing and maintaining engineering specifications, manuals, test procedures, commissioning documents, troubleshooting guides, and engineering change notices
- Ensure engineering work aligns with applicable company standards, customer requirements, electrical codes, safety expectations, and industry best practices
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to product standardization, technical processes, field feedback, and lessons learned

- Working knowledge of core BESS components and associated electrical systems, including battery modules, battery management systems, PCS/inverters, switchgear, transformers, controls, and protection systems
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across internal teams and external customer-facing environments
- Ability to travel for customer meetings, site support, commissioning activities, and technical investigations as needed
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with BESS suppliers, OEMs, EPC contractors, utilities, or renewable energy developers
- Familiarity with hybrid power systems integrating battery storage with gas turbines, generators, solar, or microgrid controls
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and compliance frameworks such as IEEE, UL, IEC, NEC, and NFPA
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, field troubleshooting, or aftersales technical support
- Familiarity with EMS, SCADA, controls integration, and utility or customer interconnection requirements
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, manufacturing, field service, product development, or technical support environments
