Position Summary: The President/CEO of the Deer Park Chamber provides leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of the Chamber activities and is responsible for seeing that the strategic initiatives and policies of the Board of Directors are effectively implemented. The President/CEO serves as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and its Executive Board. The President/CEO reports directly to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and communicates on a regular basis. The President/CEO is also responsible for the operations of the Deer Park Chamber Foundation 501(c)(3) and reports to the Foundation Board of Directors. Accountabilities and responsibilities are reflective of both the Chamber and Chamber Foundation. The President/CEO advises the Boards and committees regarding policy, programs, and other key initiatives and serves as the principal advocate and spokesperson for the Chamber in conjunction with the Chairperson. The President/CEO works closely with a wide range of constituencies in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors to build support and coalitions consistent with the Chamber’s overall vision, mission, current goals, and priorities.
Key Responsibilities: Included but not limited to.
· Strategic & Operational Planning – In conjunction with the Board of Directors, and staff, develops and implements a long-range Strategic Plan to advance the Chamber’s mission. Works with Chamber committees to identify issues and needs and develops plans to address them. Evaluates effectiveness and measure progress towards attainment.
· Board Relations – Builds and maintains strong relationships and communications with the Chair of the Board, Executive Board, and Board of Directors. Provides leadership necessary to garner maximum engagement of Board members. In conjunction with the Board Chair, plans and organizes Executive Board and Board of Directors meetings.
· Community Relations - Identifies, establishes, and maintains strategic relationships with community leaders, businesses, and organizations whose influence, support, and/or assistance could be of value to the organization. Participates in local, state, and national organizations related to the organization’s Mission. Acts, in conjunction with the Chair of the Board, as the organization’s primary spokesperson.
· Policy Development, Implementation & Interpretation – Assists the Board in the development of policy, as needed, and is responsible for the execution of policies adopted by the Board. Responsible for the proper order of business as established in the Chamber’s bylaws.
· Organization Structure & Procedures – Continuously evaluates the Chamber’s organization structure, policies, and procedures to ensure their effectiveness in identifying and addressing Chamber and community needs and issues. Recommends changes in structure, procedures, and policies as needed.
· Advocacy & Public Policy – Collaborate with the Board and Legislative Committee to identify and manage the Chamber’s relationships and advocacy/public policy efforts with local, regional, state, and federal government bodies to achieve desired outcomes. Maximize the Chamber’s influence through relationships with government officials, communicating our position, and coalition-building among those with similar views.
· Membership Relations, Development & Retention – Provides leadership and supports the Membership Director to ensure there is a compelling value proposition for current and prospective members. Assist with developing and conducting member satisfaction surveys. Upon survey results develop and recommend revisions to increase membership value and engagement. Maintains a fair value (dollar amount) for membership and sponsorships to ensure the income needed to support the Chamber in meeting its mission and strategic plan.
· Program & Services Development – Provides staff and committees with the tools, guidance, and resources needed to develop new, creative, value-added programs, benefits, and services for the membership. Reviews and evaluates program and benefit proposals to help ensure their effectiveness. Motivate and inspire volunteers.
· Budget & Finances – Develops annual budget with assistance from the Finance Committee in conjunction with priorities determined by the Board of Directors. Acting Chief Financial Officer/CFO. Manage revenues and expenses in accordance with the established budget and ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. Ensures full compliance with local, state, and federal laws at all times in all corporate,
financial, and personnel matters.
· Staff Administration – Provides leadership to maintain an organizational culture of excellence, respect, diversity, and collaboration among teams and individuals. Builds and maintains a staff consistent with program needs, financial resources, and budget. Is responsible for the hiring and training of all staff members, the development of job descriptions, and the supervision of their work.
Completes any other duties related to the business of the chamber, including, but not limited to, aiding fellow team members toward the ultimate goal of giving added value to the members of the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce, and other duties as assigned by the Chamber Board of Directors.
Professional Qualifications
· A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a leadership position within a chamber of commerce, economic development corporation, visitors’ bureau, or a related nonprofit, private, or public sector is required.
· A bachelor’s degree in a related field or exemplary work experience is required, and an advanced degree is preferred.
· Experience in economic and business development is preferred.
· Experience in marketing and sales preferred.
· Demonstrated experience in operational management, budgeting and financial management, marketing, human resource management, information technology, contract negotiations, strategic planning, and board/volunteer relations is desired.
· Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Google Docs, QuickBooks, internet, and social media proficiency are required.
· Strong oral and written communication skills with a focus on public speaking skills are required.
· The ability to create consensus and build relationships is necessary to be successful in the position.
· Experience with Petro-chemical industry preferred

Pay: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
