Full Job Description

Our client, a growing energy company in West Houston, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This position offers broad exposure to financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and analysis across multiple operating entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, thrive in a collaborative environment, and enjoy working in a fast-paced industry.

What You'll Do

Manage the monthly accounting cycle, including preparing and posting journal entries
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items
Assist with the compilation and review of monthly and year-end financial reporting packages
Analyze financial activity and provide explanations for fluctuations and unusual trends
Support the Controller with reporting, compliance, and special projects
Participate in the annual audit process and prepare requested documentation
Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
Partner with various departments to gather information and resolve accounting-related issues
Assist with reporting requirements for multiple entities and business units

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience OR 2 years of upstream oil & gas accounting experience required
Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and general ledger processes
Experience preparing account reconciliations and analyzing financial data
Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply
