Full Job Description

Job Title: Manual Machinist

Position Overview: Our Company, Aeronautical Systems Engineering; is looking for a manual machinist. Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all of the qualifications, but have sufficient experience and talent.

Responsibilities for Manual Machinist

Carry out dimensional and visual checks using appropriate measuring equipment and gauges, to ensure components meet inspection standards

May assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures and work practices for the department

May assist in troubleshooting and repairing department equipment and systems

Set up and operate engine lathes, vertical turret lathes, mills, radial drill presses and related special purpose machine tools, with or without the aid of a D.R.O

Plan work and operation sequences that include progressive machining operations for the construction, alteration, and repair of products, jigs, fixtures, and equipment

Provide machining support on jig and fixture projects and development of prototypes

Perform development and experimental work, as assigned, and proceed from own conceptions according to design and specifications

Detect and report faulty operation, defective material and equipment, and other unusual conditions to proper Supervisor or Leadman

Proficient in the set up and running of pieces of manual equipment

Maintain workplace in a neat and orderly condition

Qualifications for Manual Machinist

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Manual Machinist in machine shop & job shop work environment - (CNC experience is not applicable)

Ability to interpret technical drawings and to determine and develop the work scope required in order to meet the technical specification

Certification and training from two-year machining program required

2 years minimum experience as a prototype machinist

2 years minimum experience as a manual machinist

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
