Wyman-Gordon, located in Worcester, MA, provides Isothermal Forgings for military and commercial turbine applications using nickel based and titanium alloys. Full Heat Treating, Machining and Testing on site. This growing, $200 million profit center is part of a highly successful, multi-billion diversified manufacturer. Lab Technician - Metallography
PURPOSE:
Provide overall technical support to Worcester Metallurgy, Quality, and Operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Prepare metallurgical specimens and perform microstructure evaluations.
Prepare and evaluate on-part microstructures on Titanium & Ni-based Superalloys
Provide support to Worcester Metallurgy
Preparation of different chemical etchants for microstructure evaluation.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of high school diploma with concentration in science or mathematics. College degree or course work preferred.
Proficient in PC skills (XP, WORD, EXCEL).
Experience handling acids and chemicals preferred
Experience working in trades, operating machinery preferred
Must also be able to work independently with minimum direction.
Must be available to work weekends

Ability to work in a shop floor environment

Effective listening and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Good math skills.
Ability to lift 35 lbs.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $22.00 to $26.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
