Hotel & Restaurant Maintenance Lead

Wm. Farmer and Sons, a family-owned boutique hotel, restaurant, and bar in historic Hudson, NY, is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Lead to oversee the day-to-day repair, upkeep, and general care of our property.

This is a hands-on role for someone practical, proactive, and detail-oriented who takes pride in keeping a property running smoothly, safely, and well. Our spaces include fifteen guest rooms, a restaurant, barroom, kitchens, event spaces, and multiple historic buildings.

This could be a great fit for someone with a background in general contracting, building trades, facilities maintenance, hospitality maintenance, or property management who enjoys hands-on work and is looking for a steady, full-time role with autonomy, trust, and responsibility.

Located in the heart of Hudson, Wm. Farmer and Sons offers a thoughtful hospitality experience rooted in warm service, historic character, seasonal food and beverage, and a strong sense of place.

Responsibilities include:

Overseeing day-to-day maintenance across guest rooms, restaurant, bar, kitchens, event spaces, and back-of-house areas
Performing general repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
Handling maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
Supporting basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, hardware, appliance, HVAC, and general building needs within the scope of experience
Identifying when outside vendors or licensed trades are needed and helping coordinate their work
Performing regular property walks to identify repair, safety, or upkeep needs
Maintaining tools, supplies, inventory, and storage areas
Supporting seasonal property needs such as snow removal coordination, exterior upkeep, leaves, trash areas, and general grounds care
Supporting event setup needs, furniture movement, deliveries, and other property projects as needed
Communicating clearly with the Director of Operations and hotel, restaurant, housekeeping, events, and guest services teams

The right candidate will have:

Strong general maintenance, building, repair, or facilities experience
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, hardware, appliances, and general repair
A hands-on, problem-solving mindset
A strong eye for detail and pride in high-quality work
Comfort working independently across multiple buildings
The ability to prioritize urgent needs while keeping up with ongoing projects
Clear communication and a calm, professional presence around guests and staff
Experience in hotels, restaurants, historic buildings, general contracting, carpentry, or property management preferred

Physical requirements:

This is an active, hands-on role. Work is performed across multiple historic buildings, and there are no elevators on the property. Candidates must be comfortable with regular movement up and down stairs, bending, lifting, carrying, and working indoors and outdoors in different seasons. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Schedule:

This is a full-time salaried position. Weekend, evening, holiday, and on-call availability may be needed based on property needs, emergencies, and scheduled projects.
