Job Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the integrity of our financial data. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help keep our financial processes running smoothly, supporting the overall success of our municipality. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills while contributing to a thriving team environment.

Duties

Record and reconcile daily financial transactions with precision and timeliness
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and payments are made promptly
Maintain organized financial records, including ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation
Assist with bank reconciliations and prepare financial reports for management review
Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary documentation
Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Monitor expense reports and ensure proper coding and approval procedures are followed

Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping best practices for a municipality.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms
Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
Good communication skills and ability to explain financial information clearly
Ability to adapt quickly to new systems or procedures as needed
