Sous Chef | Ellie | Hudson, NY

Now hiring a Sous Chef for Ellie, an eastern Mediterranean restaurant opening soon in Hudson, NY. Ellie is going to be a place where people want to be. We thought about what we wanted to eat every day, what could we always go for? For us, this is it… Mezze, Kababs, Falafel… all the flavors we love with a full bar and an open, airy, light-filled dining room. Simple food, served simply.

This position offers a real opportunity for growth to a chef who takes pride in their craft, strives for consistency and cleanliness, and wants to be a part of building something in this beautiful space. Our open kitchen is the anchor to the restaurant with a Neapolitan Wood Oven, grill and fryer. You will be on stage. We need someone who can cook, run a line, and keep a kitchen spotless, stocked and organized on their own. Show us your chops and you will grow with us and lead our dinner service.

Initially, Ellie will be open for lunch Mon-Fri with intentional growth into weekend and dinner service as well as private events as we get our sea legs.

This role is for a sous chef who cares deeply about ingredients, execution, and the craft of cooking — someone who takes pride in building plates that reflect the product and the season.

You’ll be responsible for:

Full-time lunch schedule (initially) on the line & prep
Assisting in managing all aspects of inventory and organization
Working closely with the Chef/Owner & GM to execute menu & vision
Training and mentoring cooks in our techniques and standards
Maintaining a clean, disciplined, and focused kitchen

We’re looking for someone who:

Has confidence in their cooking
Is detail-driven and consistent in execution
Enjoys what they do while they do it
Is adaptive and resourceful
Wants to continue developing as a chef and a leader
Experience with a Wood Oven is a huge plus

Compensation

$30/hr + PTO
Compensation will increase if/when the sous chef leads the kitchen as we develop our dinner concept.
