Family Assistant / Nanny
25+ Guaranteed Hours Per Week | Long-Term Opportunity
A warm, active family is seeking a dependable, engaging Family Assistant/Nanny to become an important part of their team's daily routine. With three school-aged daughters involved in sports and activities, they're looking for someone who enjoys staying busy, thrives in an organized environment, and truly wants to build lasting relationships with children.
This position is ideal for someone who loves the balance of childcare and household support. The role is collaborative by nature—you'll often work alongside Mom, helping the family stay organized and making afternoons and evenings run smoothly.
Schedule
- Start Date: Ideally August 18 (school start), though the family is happy to wait for the right person. They would love someone in place by September as fall sports begin.
- Monday-Friday
- Typical hours: 2:30 PM-8:00 PM
- Fridays are generally shorter.
- 25 guaranteed hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours when needed.
- Occasional evening, weekend, overnight, or tournament support would be appreciated but is not required.
Because the children have different sports and activities throughout the week, no two afternoons look exactly alike. The family values consistency and routine, but every day brings something a little different.
A Typical Afternoon
One afternoon may include:
- School pick-up
- Helping one daughter with homework while another attends tennis
- Packing sports bags and snacks
- Driving children to practices
- Beginning dinner while Mom transports another child to volleyball
- Supporting homework, routines, and helping everyone settle in after school
The role is very much about anticipating the family's needs and helping afternoons flow smoothly.
Childcare Responsibilities
The family has three wonderful daughters:
Oldest Daughter (12)
Independent, mature, and entering 7th grade. She's an old soul who appreciates being treated with respect rather than being "babied." She enjoys volleyball, tennis, and spending time with friends. She's responsible and trustworthy but appreciates adults who communicate with her like the young teenager she is becoming.
Middle Daughter (10)
Sweet, caring, athletic, and entering 5th grade. She experiences some anxiety and benefits from having a calm transition home after school before jumping into activities. She loves soccer, enjoys snuggling, and responds well to patient, reassuring adults.
Youngest Daughter (8)
Fun-loving, energetic, and always ready to play. She is incredibly expressive, independent, and recently diagnosed with dyslexia. The family will provide guidance on how best to support her learning, and they're looking for someone patient who enjoys helping with homework while keeping learning positive and encouraging.
Family Assistant Responsibilities
This role extends beyond childcare and includes helping keep the household running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing simple family dinners
- Emptying and loading the dishwasher daily
- Tidying the kitchen and returning it to its baseline each evening
- Grocery shopping and running occasional errands
- Organizing children's bedrooms and drawers (rotating out outgrown clothing)
- Keeping backpacks organized and ensuring homework is completed
- Packing snacks, sports equipment, and activity bags
- Maintaining organization in the family's busy back hallway/drop zone
- Cleaning out the refrigerator as needed
- Helping maintain an organized, welcoming home
The family is looking for someone who notices what needs to be done and enjoys taking initiative without needing constant direction.
Transportation
Driving is a significant part of this position.
- Reliable personal vehicle required
- Mileage reimbursed
- Most driving occurs within approximately a 10-mile radius
- Safe driving is absolutely essential
Family Environment
This family is warm, welcoming, and genuinely hopes their nanny feels like part of the household. You'll always be welcome to eat with the family and enjoy meals when available. As with any busy household, dinner plans occasionally vary, so bringing snacks or lunch on some days may be helpful.
The parents value teamwork, communication, and creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable.
Ideal Candidate
The family is searching for someone who is:
- Exceptionally reliable and punctual
- A safe, confident driver
- Warm, nurturing, and naturally engaging with children
- Organized and proactive
- Comfortable managing multiple moving pieces
- Athletic, active, and enjoys keeping up with busy kids
- Confident balancing childcare with household responsibilities
- Responsible while still being fun and relatable
- Looking for a long-term position
The girls tend to gravitate toward energetic role models who are active, positive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with them. Whether you're a younger professional nanny, teacher, coach, or someone with a naturally upbeat personality, the family is looking for someone who can connect with each child while providing the structure and dependability they need.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting around $25+/hour, depending on experience
- Guaranteed hours
- Mileage reimbursement
- Paid time off and additional benefits to be discussed with the right candidate
Above all else, this family values reliability, kindness, and someone who wants to become a trusted, long-term part of their lives. They are excited to find someone who will not only help keep the household running smoothly but also become an important, positive presence for their three daughters.
