Full Job Description

PES School of Nursing is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our faculty as contracted instructors for our growing Practical Nursing (PN) Program. We are looking for those that are interested in teaching didactic, hands on skills, and clinical hours.

We are seeking passionate nurse educators who are committed to preparing the next generation of practical nurses through engaging classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, and clinical education.

Position Summary

We are offering a total instructional contract of $9,000 for 15 weeks for the upcoming Practical Nursing term. The assignment will include responsibility for two part-time PN courses for 15 weeks:

One fully online didactic course; and
One course that includes either laboratory instruction or combined laboratory and clinical instruction.

The final course assignment and allocation of compensation will be based on the laboratory and clinical responsibilities associated with the second course. Compensation will be paid in equal monthly installments throughout the instructional term. There will be an opportunity to go full time in January 2027.

This is a contracted adjunct faculty appointment. The instructor will be responsible for course delivery, grading, timely student communication, maintenance of the Moodle course site, participation in required faculty meetings, and completion of all applicable laboratory, clinical, and student evaluation documentation.

For those that only wish to do lab and clinical hours for our program, these are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the pay offered for these positions is HOURLY at $40-42 per hour. Additional days will be available with the start of our Winter 2027 cohort.

Courses we are currently seeking faculty for :

Pharmacology

Nutrition/Medical Terminology (didactic only)

Essential Responsibilities

Depending on assignment, adjunct faculty may:

Deliver classroom (didactic) instruction (remote/virtual)
Facilitate nursing skills laboratory sessions.
Offer open office hours to students who need additional assistance (remote/virtual)
Supervise students in clinical settings.
Evaluate student performance using established grading rubrics.
Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
Utilize the Moodle Learning Management System for course communication and grading.
Respond to student communications in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain compliance with PES School of Nursing policies and all Michigan Board of Nursing requirements.
Participate in required faculty meetings, orientation, and training.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

Current, unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license. (We are not a compact state, and compact licenses will not be accepted.)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience.
Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Strong computer proficiency and the ability to work within an online learning environment.
Ability to have a flexible schedule and be available to students.
Experience teaching in an allied health or nursing program

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with:

Previous nursing teaching experience.
Experience teaching in a nursing or allied health program
Experience with Moodle LMS
Clinical supervision experience.
Curriculum development or instructional design experience.
