Machine Operator/Parts Department

Position Summary
We are looking for a dependable, safety-minded individual to join our Parts Department. This position supports the fabrication shop by operating production equipment, processing steel parts from shop drawings, performing quality checks, and keeping equipment in good working condition.
The right candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in accurate work, communicates well, and works effectively as part of a team.
Equipment You Will Operate
Experience with any of the following is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Ironworkers
- Plate shear
- Press brake
- CNC oxy-fuel burn table
- Voortman V808 CNC thermal robotic coping machine
- Radial arm drill
- Magnetic drills
- Horizontal and vertical band saws
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and blueprints.
- Measure, mark, and process steel accurately.
- Set up and operate fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Verify dimensions and maintain quality standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and daily inspections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Use hand tools and measuring instruments correctly.
- Follow production schedules while maintaining accuracy.
- Report equipment issues and safety concerns.
- Work closely with coworkers to meet production goals.
Qualifications
- Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
- Strong understanding of fractions, decimals, and tape measure readings.
- Basic geometry knowledge.
- Experience using hand tools and measuring tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn CNC equipment.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Experience operating fabrication equipment.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience.
- Familiarity with CNC fabrication equipment.
