Sr. Bookkeeper/Sr. Accountant Summary

The Sr. Bookkeeper/Sr. Accountant provides accounting support to external clients by accurately recording, classifying, and reconciling financial transactions to maintain reliable financial records. This role also includes performing routine financial analysis, managing general ledger activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Sr. Bookkeeper/Sr. Accountant Responsibilities

Record and reconcile financial transactions in client accounting software, ensuring accuracy in bank, loan, and credit card statements.
Calculate, record and document prepaid expenses, accruals, interest, and depreciation in client’s ledger.
Leverage firm technology to automate data entry and adjusting entries, integrating with client software when applicable.
Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information.
Prepare accurate client financial statements.
Independently manage assigned tasks with initiative and accountability.
Manage projects by tracking progress, meeting deadlines, and ensuring follow-through on key initiatives.
Record time entry daily to maintain accurate billing and project tracking.
Prepare and file sales tax and other required tax returns based on client needs.
Monitor budgets and deadlines to ensure efficient project execution.
Provide QuickBooks training and support to clients.
Maintain a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, payroll, and sales tax.
Train staff accountants and clients on relevant accounting technology and processes.
Uphold strict confidentiality of client and firm information.
Expand expertise in industry-specific accounting practices and niche areas.

Sr. Bookkeeper/Sr. Accountant Qualifications and Education

2-year accounting degree preferred.
Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience preferred.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Minimum of four years’ experience with QuickBooks Online preferred.
QuickBooks Pro Certified preferred.
16 hours continuing education annually required.
Proficiency with computer software, including Office 365.
Understanding of various accounting software programs.
Some local travel is required.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
